Business Analyst Specialist

Kaiser Permanente isseeking an experienced and skilled Business Analyst Specialistto join the new Health Plan Business Technology Services and Solutions (HPBTSS) department in Burbank as a member of the Data Management and Reporting team. The person should be able to analyze, articulate, document and gain approval of business requirements, liaison between business and KPIT during design of reporting application build and project manage from requirements to implementation of the project. The person will also be presenting periodic progress reports on the projects and track both IT and business work as part of the project management.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for preparing project plan, monitoring and reporting status based on the monitoring activities.
- Demonstrates ability to articulate complex business requirements and business process.
- Responsible for documenting and reviewing business requirements and business process documentation.
- Should be able to manage 10-15 design, development and testing project resources.
- Demonstrated experience in coordinating technical and non-technical work.
- Establishes coordination across projects to ensure adequate resources are available and delivery commitments are met. Should handle or escalate performance issues.
- Demonstrates knowledge and implementation of effective risk management, Issue management and change control processes.
- Experience in managing internet applications development is required
- Demonstrates an understanding of functional area business processes across cross functional areas.
- Directs/conducts/documents the analysis of current business processes and functional requirements.
- Has experience in being a thought leader to the business in designing to-be processes and requirements.
- Collaborates with functional/departmental team members, lines of business and KPIT to define, design and deliver strategic solutions to meet critical business needs.
- Ability to understand and coordinate Information Technology technical work. Working knowledge of application interfaces and ability to analyze data mapping from system to system.
- Researches, analyzes and implements best practice business processes and solutions.
- Prepares appropriate documentation to communicate and validate information.
- Acts as a liaison between IT/vendor and business.
- Influences multiple cross-functional and/or multiple cross divisional task forces to identify and document functional requirements, workflow, information sources and system/process specifications.
- Provides subject matter expertise to cross-divisional, common business areas.
- Up to 10% travel within California.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications
- 8+ years of related experience
- 4 year degree or 4 additional years of equivalent experience
- Extensive experience and knowledge in managing reporting and analytics work
- Ability to present requirements and deliverables
- Ability todevelop concepts, techniques and standards in general business analysis, as well as IT principles and practices
- Ability to analyze and documentprocesses, methods, solutions, etc.
- Ability totranslate business processes and requirements into system specifications
- Strong analytical, written and oral communications, and interpersonal skills (e.g. political savvy, team leader, emotional intelligence)
- Experienced in client relationship management, vendor or consulting firm relationship management
- Working knowledge in Microsoft project plans
- Ability to work under pressure and in challenging setting
- Must work independently and be an assertive self starter
Preferred Qualifications
- 8+ years in Healthcare and/or insurance industry and/or implementation of healthcare or insurance system(s)
- Experience with Broker Administration, CRM, Marketing or Sales Operations
- Extensive knowledge of KP's production environment
- Coordinate necessary system and process changes within managed applications to facilitate transformation to a more complex workflow, data driven environment
- Experience supporting Kaiser Permanente's sales and marketing applications
