Maintains, trains, and researches purchasing/upgrading of vehicles, remote wireless sound systems, touring sets, and a variety of supplemental materials used in Southern California Regions community service educational theater program.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinates the technical logistics of educational theatre programs touring companies.
- Assists in maintaining quality of programs through attendance of performances as needed or assigned.
- May provide training for performers on all technical aspects of touring.
- Provides technical assistance to road coordinators and performers while on tour.
- Coordinates touring and performance logistics on any special, community, and employee events approved by supervisor, including ensuring appropriate performance space, loading dock arrangements, adequate seating, adequate lighting, and sound projection and other details as required.
- Works with production staff to ensure an ongoing safety for all staff.
- Coordinates design efforts as assigned by supervisor for touring equipment and material, set pieces and properties used by performers on and off stage, special event materials and equipment, and others that may be required by new program development.
- Assists with technical expertise for any special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Significant experience, usually three (3) - five (5) years as a well-rounded theatre technician.
- Previous theatrical touring or road experience required.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Theater Production or related field.
- Expertise in one or more specific area of technical theatre required: audio systems, sound rack building/maintenance, troubleshooting, wireless lavalieres, sound equipment, set construction or design, wardrobe/costume maintenance, properties, tour truck maintenance, carpentry, soft goods, puppetry and touring support.
- An interest in educational theatre and community outreach, preferred.
- Able to work without supervision, preferred.
- Excellent organizational abilities, Windows Office Suite, and strong communication skills are key, preferred.
- Proficiency in a variety of software applications including graphics software, preferred.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Notes:
- Will work weekends as needed.
