The Optical Tooling Technician I works in a continuous 24/7 manufacturing environment and is responsible for the fabrication of optical inserts; provides tooling fabrication support and mold maintenance. Other key responsibilities include: works on optical tooling assignments/or special projects in the manufacturing of optical inserts and components; Perform safety inspections regularly; Maintains the optical tooling area in compliance with GMP standards and requirements; perform these and all other related duties as assigned by management in adherence to safety procedures and GMP/ISO requirements and environmental policy and procedures.

Qualifications
A minimum of a High School Degree or equivalent is required. A minimum of six (6) months of professional experience working in a machining environment with CNC programming and lathing is required. A minimum of 1 year experience in a manufacturing or research development environment is required. High-precision optics with the capability of reading and working to tolerances specified on mold component blueprints (+/- .025 mm (+/- .001 inch) or closer) is required. Strong written and oral communication skills are required. Capable of reading basic blueprints including standard and metric measuring units is required. Thorough understanding and application of principles, concepts and practices of Diamond Turning production is required. Due to possible changes in business needs, candidates need the ability to work a 6 am to 6 pm (day shift) OR 6 pm to 6 am (night shift) on a continuous operations schedule in addition to every other weekend.
Physical demands of this position require stooping, walking, pulling, lifting (up to 25 pounds), hearing, visual acuity, kneeling, reaching and standing.
