GENERAL SUMMARY
Responsible for the development of new and/or modifications to existing complex reporting applications, data marts, and reports, using multiple technology languages. Provides technical support and maintenance for multiple existing reporting applications, data marts, and reports in adherence to a software development life cycle framework. Provides guidance to staff on complex assignments. Works primarily on projects teams with occasional independent work.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participates as technical expert and may direct the development of complex reporting applications, data marts, and reports in adherence to software development life cycles, including coding, testing, troubleshooting,
- source and executable code management, documentation and deployment of applications.
- Participates and may direct the identification of business requirements including business consultation for projects in the design phase to support the development of complex reporting applications, data marts, and reports.
- Serves as a liaison to the business customers for the development of new and the modification of existing complex reporting applications, data marts, and reports.
- Provides mentoring to staff regarding all aspects of software development life cycles.
- Responsible for technical maintenance and enhancements of multiple existing reporting applications, data marts, and reports in adherence to change management protocol.
- Responsible for monitoring and tracking of monthly production schedules, including being on call for review, trouble-shooting, and approval of completed production jobs.
- May participate in the analysis and development of extracts to support compliance and regulatory data requests on a one-time or ongoing basis for maintenance by various teams.
- May investigate, learn, apply and train peers on new or upgraded technologies impacting reporting applications, data marts and reports.
- May serve as Project Manager for small to moderate projects.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications:
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Previous (7-10 years) experience in all phases of application, data mart, and report development life cycles.
- Previous development experience with SAS or SQL (Oracle or SQL Server) and business intelligence tools (e.g. Cognos, Microsoft Report Writer, Hyperion, Business Objects) required.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Access, Visual Basic, and client server or web user interface development preferred.
- Previous experience in health care and/or worker’s compensation industry preferred.
- Demonstrated critical thinking, analytical, and problem solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communications skills.
- Ability to work effectively with business partners, management, vendors, and team members.
