Provides clinical & support services to patients, providers, & staff in the Urgent Care Clinic to improve turnaround time & facilitate maximum efficiency n the department.
Essential Functions:
- Coordinates patient flow to minimize wait time & keeps patients apprised of delays.
- Monitors patient condition, notifying provider & RN immediately if patient is unstable.
- Prepares patient to see provider & assists provider prior to, during, & following examination, including but not limited to the following:
- Takes vital signs & collects specimens.
- Carries out procedures, using aseptic techniques as needed, including inserting foley catheters, drawing blood for delivery to the lab, performing EKG's, splinting non-displaced fractures & suture removal.
- Obtains relevant lab, x-ray, & other diagnostic test results; transports patients to other departments via wheelchair if needed &/or takes charts to other departments.
- Provides instructions to patients as appropriate, including lab or other procedures information, crutch walking. Makes, cancels, & verifies appointments as necessary.
- Maintains examination & treatment rooms, nurses' station, & reception areas. Cleans equipment, following OSHA & Universal Precautions guidelines. Ensures that established standards of supply levels & forms are maintained & orders supplies as needed.
- Participates in QA/QI activities. Manages all paperwork related to a patient encounter, including medical records, encounter forms, provider schedules, referrals, in-house consultations, MRI requests, etc.
- Verifies eligibility & demographic information for both new & existing patients &, when necessary, inputs data in accordance w/ pre-enrollment & non-status change procedures. Collects, secures, & accounts for payments received from members, in compliance w/ established procedures.
- Performs other reasonably related duties as trained & assigned to facilitate patient flow decreased turnaround time, & increased efficiency in clinic.
Qualifications:
This position willtravel tothe White Marsh Medical Center.
Basic Qualifications:
- 2 years of experience as a emergency department technician or military medic required.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Certified Nursing Assistant for the state of MD required.
- Current CPR certification required upon commencement of employment.
- Requires bending, lifting greater than 20 pounds, pushing wheelchairs/stretchers.
