National EDI (NEDI) Transmission Services has responsibility for setting up data file transmission protocols between Kaiser and our external business clients. In addition, we also set up transmission protocols for a large number of Kaiser's internal data transfers between application system platforms. This requires close coordination with our internal business clients to understand their data transfer requirements and close coordination with our external clients to identify compatible transmission protocols that ensure the appropriate level of data protection, security and reliability. NEDI Transmission services all areas of Kaiser business, examples include payroll, Medicare, Fraud, Waste & Abuse, Electronic Funds Transfers (EFT), Credit Card transactions, electronic membership enrollments, Health Care Claims, eProcurement purchase orders, invoices, etc.

The job requires a high degree of time management, organization skills, and the capability to function in stressful and time pressure situations. Each programmer/analyst is required to work on multiple Service Requests (SR's) - and is assigned as many as 30+ SR's at the same time. Coordinating and keeping track of each SR and moving easily between them are part of the normal daily routine.

Responsibilities:

Analysis, design, development, implementation and maintenance of NEDI transmission processes.
On-call support of production systems during off-hours, (evenings, weekends, holidays) on a rotational basis.
Must be able to independently troubleshoot and resolve production problems during on-call assignments.
Expected to function independently and produce results that meet standards of quality, timeliness and acceptability with minimal supervision.
Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or 4 years of equivalent work experience.
A minimum of 4 years experience in development of new programs/application or maintaining and/or supporting existing programs/systems.
5 or more years experience with IBM MVS/OS390 mainframe environment.
Experience with TSO/ISPF, JCL, SDSF Changeman, transmission protocols (FTP, Secure Shell (SSH), NDM, AT&T Network, NJE).
Strong written and verbal communication skills a must.


Preferred Qualifications:

Secondary knowledge/experience with COBOL, Java, UNIX, and NT administration, plus a basic understanding of EDI concepts.
