Reporting to the Director of Procurement, the Manager Procurement will lead his/her staff to achieve best practice category management processes and delivery of results for Advanced Sterilization Products. The Procurement team is responsible for managing all aspects of the relationship with external manufacturers and material suppliers to deliver reliable product supply and total cost effectiveness while meeting or exceeding all customer service, compliance and product requirements.
The Manager Procurement will develop strategies and provide overall coordination, facilitation and enablement of programs that will drive best practice. The successful candidate will work closely with the MD&D and Enterprise category leaders in deployment of their strategies within our businesses. In addition, this role will provide day-to-day leadership for Procurement team members and will also establish action plans to enable professional growth and development for each associate.
The Manager Procurement will be a leader within the sector-wide MD&D Procurement organization. The leader is expected to provide a practical and intellectual understanding of the global MD&D industry and its channels in order to provide a strong combination of strategic vision and hands-on leadership in all aspects of global sourcing operations. The Manager Procurement will lead the team responsible for resolution of product supply issues, driving results on a worldwide basis, negotiating total cost of contracted materials, products and services, execution of supply agreements, achievement of monthly plan attainment goals, and identification / delivery of Cost Improvement Projects (CIPs).
The successful candidate will develop commodity strategies that will meet the future needs of the business, drive best practices and be responsible for delivering robust year on year productivity gains.
Additional responsibilities will include: executing strategic direction in sourcing to ensure optimal mix of cost and cycle time, while continually guaranteeing required levels of quality, ensuring appropriate support and the achievement of source-related goals/milestones for New Product Introduction projects, implementing best in class Sourcing activities including Commodity management and simplifying/streamlining the supply base.
The Manager Procurement is responsible for implementing strong business systems to establish and managing supplier partnerships and to positively contribute to the efficiency of Supply Chain and R&D, ensuring training on, and compliance with, relevant company procedures and preparing annual budget and delivering YOY productivity savings. The successful candidate will manage a team of sourcing managers and professionals, manages supplier capabilities including but not limited to capacity planning, tooling and resource investments including inventory management and conducts industry research and market surveys in order to stay current with best in class strategic sourcing practices and customer demands. Other responsibilities include: make vs. buy decision making, supplier skills upgrading (ship to stock, emerging technologies, etc.), leadership development of future ops/supply chain leaders and overall systems capability analysis in support of the supply chain.
Additional attributes and responsibilities of the Manager Procurement include: must be an excellent people manager, set goals and hold people accountable and work closely with peer managers and directors who drive MD&D strategies. The successful candidate will also required to possess excellent interpersonal skills, be a self-starter; results and performance driven and have excellent written, oral, and presentation skills. The Manager Procurement will be creative and have decisive problem solving skills, a proven ability to influence/collaborate to get to desired result, change leadership experience and possess a customer focus (internal & external). The Manager Procurement is adaptable to meet rapidly changing priorities, exercises a high degree of business judgment and sound reasoning and demonstrates strong Credo values. The position is located in Irvine, CA and will require up to 25% travel.
Qualifications
It is required the Manager Procurement have a BS Degree and within Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations Management or related field preferred. An MBA or Master's degree preferred. A CPSM certification (formerly CPM) (Certified Professional in Supply Management) and a Six Sigma Green Belt or higher preferred. It is required the Manager Procurement have a minimum of 5 years relevant experience in a procurement / supply chain role. Experience within an FDA, Pharma or Medical Device work environment preferred. Regulated work environment experience required. Prior experience in managing suppliers, negotiating contracts and working on supplier agreements is required. Experience working in Manufacturing Operations, specifically in a GMP environment is highly preferred.
It is required the Manager Procurement have the proven ability to influence/collaborate, possess excellent interpersonal and negotiating skills and strong management and leadership experience (setting direction, influencing, goal alignment, lead & influence others in a matrix organization). Strong analytical skills and the ability to absorb information & solve complex problems quickly required. It is preferred the Manager Procurement have experience in Operations, Logistics and Planning and financial management-multi-million dollar budget development and control experience. The position is located in Irvine, CA and will require up to 25% travel.
