Description
In order to leverage our global transportation spend and capabilities better, CLS Regional Transportation team was created on cross-sector basis, e.g. serving Pharma, Medical Device & Diagnostics and Consumer Sectors of Johnson & Johnson. This organization took responsibility for all transportation for J&J on a global basis.
The CLS Regional Transportation Team is organized in 4 pillars:
- Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) Lead
- Transportation Operations Lead
- Compliance & Security Lead
- Transportation Technology, Analytics & Business Processes Lead

The mission is to deliver measurable, sustainable value to J&J that balances transportation cost and service while meeting quality, compliance and security requirements through a J&J enterprise-wide solution.
Functions
For this organization we are posting a position in Duties, Tax, HS Classification Manager (aka COE Trade Compliance Manager)
He or she is responsible for participating in the creation of Center of Excellence (COE) on Trade Compliance, representing APAC.
This COE intends to ensure strict adherence to compliance and regulatory requirements and minimizing risks associated with the movement of commercial goods across international borders.
He or she will work with the regional compliance lead to develop regional processes & procedures in adherence to local laws and regulations as well as in accordance with corporate compliance and WWT (worldwide transportation) goals, objectives and strategies.
Key Performance Metrics
- Review classification and key Trade compliance pillars during TENDER processes
- Operational support to all JNJ businesses on trade compliance related topics: HS classification, Country of Origin, Valuation…
- Training to Franchise
- Operational support to all JNJ businesses in case of customs or VAT audits
- Minimization of regulatory and security detrimental issues to business
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the foundation of Global Trade Compliance COE on HS classification, Country of Origin determination and Valuation
- Become main Point of Contact and reference to support operations and reviews classification during TENDER processes
- Partner with Consultants on evaluation of Duties Drawbacks potential
- Establish Diagnostics of As-Is situation on Duties and tax paid with Finance departments
- Enhance Franchise's Knowledge and Competency via training
- Use technology acquired by WWT to house data and global classifications
- He or She will collaborate with WWT, business owners and stakeholders from different sectors, as well as CLS Transportation team members of other pillars to drive change and implement strong trade compliance guidelines.
- Occasional travel will be required. Constant communication with internal stakeholders is a must.
Qualifications
REQUIRED
Background and Experience
- Relevant work experience of 5 ~10 years.
- A background in international transportation, customs clearance and trade compliance with about 5 years experience in this field in the sector
- Technical knowledge in Classification, Country of Origin and Valuation
- Strong analytical and organization skills with excellent capabilities in process mapping.
- Proven experience in working in highly complex environment.
- Track record of success in delivering business results
- Fluent in English, fluency in additional languages is a plus
Desired
- Preferably MS level or equivalent in logistics, supply chain, Customs

LOCATION
This position will be based in Singapore or Australia. The selected individual will be expected to hold this position in the country in which they are currently residing. No relocation support provided.
