Description

Ortho-Clinical Diagnostics provides professional diagnostic products to hospital laboratories, commercial clinical laboratories and blood donor centres. Its products include diagnostic reagents and instrument systems for clinical chemistry, immunodiagnostics, blood grouping and blood screening.

A permanent full-time vacancy exists for the right person to join as a Principal Operations Technician in the Kit Assembly team based in Pencoed.

This role works 12 hour shift working pattern.

Duties & Responsibilities

- Carry out manufacturing operations in accordance with cGMP and GLP, identifying and recording anomalous observations. If assigned, act as first level supervision to operational team in ensuring adherence to plan.
- Prepare SOP's and associated documents for existing procedures.
- Operate production equipment or carry out manual operations.
- Carry out routine quality control tests, interpret results and make recommendations for appropriate action.
- Maintain operational environments.
- Maintain control charts for trend analysis. Understand principles of SPC and the uses of such systems.
- Ensure maintenance of production equipment is carried out to agreed schedules. Supervise contract maintenance staff and sign off completed maintenance records.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and in associated implementation teams.
- Participate in the set-up of new production procedures and areas.
- Participate in shopfloor work-flow planning, including weekly planning and interfacing between work groups. Maintain personal training records.
- Review and update Operational Training Modules. Maintain up to date records while ensuring the area is in adherence regarding HSE requirements.
- Support the annual appraisal system within the unit.
- Support the unit Training Plan. Trained as Trainer, providing training to team members.
- On occasion, deputise for more senior members of section
- Ensures all activities are carried out in compliance with all regulations and laws governing business and quality operations (QSR/GMP, ISO, etc.).
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with all local, national, international and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety & Environmental compliance.
- As part of the Operations team, to carry out the routine manufacture and quality control of the range of immunodiagnostics products.

Qualifications


Qualifications and Previous Experience

- ONC/OND or degree in a science-based subject or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience from a related industry are the minimum requirement for this role.
- Experience in the use of Microsoft computer packages, particularly Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint are essential
- Science background preferred
- Production Line or Laboratory work desirable
