GENERAL SUMMARY
Provides leadership for the coordination and implementation of projects and programs in direct support of business objectives. Projects assigned are highly complex, have significant cross divisional impact, are broad in scope, and are typically related to core business processes. Directs multiple projects and project teams simultaneously. Directs all aspects of the project including, but not limited to scope, cost/benefit analysis, written proposal, budgets, and schedule.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for providing project management support at the direction of a management team. Directs project teams through all phases and activities of the project life-cycle.
- Works with management, senior leadership, and project sponsor(s) to determine project goals and priorities.
- Scope of duties includes, but is not limited to translating needs, issues, and ideas into effective strategies and action plans, coordination and maintenance of all project documentation, project performance, risk management, development of project budgets and cost benefit analysis, stakeholder management, management of multiple cross functional teams, and the design of operational processes.
- Leads project team meetings. Coordinates resources to ensure that projects and programs have sufficient means to meet and/or exceed expectations.
- Prepares detailed cost benefit analyses and program approval documents. Communicates results and recommendations to key stakeholders and/or project sponsors to obtain approval.
- Directs the coordination of training logistics with project sponsor(s).
- Ensures projects adhere to the established project management methodologies, standards, tools, processes, policies, and procedures.
- Develops and communicates a clear vision of the project objectives. Motivates the project team to achieve their goals while creating an environment that drives peak performance.
- Facilitates staff development by working with team leaders to develop their project management skills.
- Evaluates, monitors, and ensures compliance with all laws, regulations, policies, and procedures associated with any aspects of the project.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications:
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Master’s degree preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or Six Sigma certification required.
- Significant (5-7 years) experience in managing a wide variety of medium to large multifunctional projects, including experience in leading technical staff, team members, and vendors.
- Technical and/or operational knowledge related to the area of assignement required. Experience working with and guiding programmer analysts who are well versed in ASP, SQL and Access databases.
- Demonstrated application of project management methodology required. Knowledge of or experience with project management tools, documentation tools, and reporting tools.
- Excellent skills in critical thinking and analysis, meeting facilitation, verbal and written communications, and interpersonal skills (e.g., partnering, conflict management, consulting, etc.).
- Thorough understanding of current trends and strategies in healthcare and their application to information technologies.
