This role is a Senior Director who will be leading the Business Development responsibilities for Cordis Corporation. The Senior Director will report to the Vice President of World Wide Business Development. The Business Development Director will maintain expertise in relevant markets, competitors and technologies as well as Cordis strategies, programs and requirements. This individual will proactively assess and recommend Licensing & Acquisitions and strategic initiatives to optimize Cordis's competitive position and financial results. This person will select and direct efforts of valuation team, which may include representatives from marketing, finance, R&D, clinical and regulatory affairs, corporate legal, corporate treasury, and other functional representatives. The chosen candidate will manage the valuation of opportunities including market assessment, technology evaluation, intellectual property review, and evaluation of target, which may include extensive due diligence. The Business Development Director will also direct the development of market and financial models, and will negotiate agreements of reasonable complexity and importance to the company. This individual will ensure thorough and timely drafting, review, and modification of agreement drafts, as well as direct the development of materials required to gain negotiating and execution authorization. This person will present these materials, as appropriate, to Cordis senior management, individuals in J&J senior management, the Group Operating Committee, and/or the Executive Committee, and will ensure that Cordis functional areas are made aware of key agreement terms and drivers of value to prepare for successful implementation of agreements. The chosen candidate will be responsible for ensuring personal and company compliance with all Federal, State, local and company regulations, policies and procedures for Health, Safety and Environmental compliance, and will be responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition.

Qualifications


A Bachelor's Degree is required; An MBA or related technical and/or clinical graduate studies is preferred. A minimum of 10 years of related work experience is required; medical device experience is also required. Cardiovascular experience is a plus. People management experience is required. Experience in either business development, M&A (mergers and acquisitions) and/or transactional/licensing experience are required. Ability to lead cross-functional project teams is required. A strong orientation of scientific concepts is preferred. Excellent communication and presentation skills are required, as well as excellent quantitative and analytical skills. Ability to analyze markets, value new products, technologies and companies, and develop growth strategies is preferred. This position is based in Diamond Bar, CA and may require 30% domestic and international travel.
