To support and coordinate administrative and clinical activities of the designated unit.
Essential Functions:
- Facilitates a well-coordinated and hospitable experience for the member and member's family. Examples of this action include but are not limited to the following:
- Processing transfers and discharges of members.
- Maintaining member charts.
- Answering and appropriately routing internal and external telephone calls.
- Answering call system from nurses' station.
- Following up for patient and /or family as appropriate.
- Making follow-up appointment for patients as necessary.
- Following up on proactive care alerts.
- Acting as greeter for the unit, greeting new patients and their families.
- Assists with coordinating a smooth patient flow through the department. Examples of this action include but are not limited to the following:
- Coordinating bed placement with delegators.
- In conjunction with discharge coordinators, organizing transfers/discharge to home, SNF and hospitals, including printing relevant sections of the patient chart.
- Coordinating discharge times.
- Contacting family members with discharge information and otherwise facilitates a timely discharge when the patient is ready.
- Communicating with other units/departments as needed.
- Manages clerical tasks. Examples of this action include but are not limited to the following:
- Ordering appropriate maintenance.
- Ordering materials and supplies for the unit.
- Collecting equipment and non-narcotic medication for various departments.
- Preparing discharge packets and other documents for patients (including maternal/baby).
- Maintaining the unit's business equipment, including maintaining appropriately charged wireless carts.
- Arranging for special maintenance or repair of the unit's business equipment. (fax, copier, printer, etc.)
- Assists with various technical and clinical tasks throughout the unit. Examples of this action include but are not limited to the following:
- Assisting unit personnel in the use of the electronic medical records and other systems.
- Acting as the unit resource for computer-related issues.
- Initiating unit's downtime procedures when necessary.
- Helping to facilitate co-pay collections.
- Logging sick calls on unit assigned.
- Alerting the RN to alarming monitors (such as a telemetry tech).
- Assuring correct lead placement.
- Maintaining dietary requirements and faxes to vendor as needed.
- Collecting meal trays.
- Taking stat specimens to the lab.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
This position willtravel tothe White Marsh Medical Center.
Basic Qualifications:
- One (1) year of full-time experience in a health care setting required.
- Six (6) months of experience in Telemetry Tech Monitoring Skills is required (for internal hires, within six (6) months of hire date).
- High School Diploma required.
- Education/ training in Medical Terminology required.
- Current BLS certification required
- Working knowledge of PCs and the ability to navigate in a Windows environment utilizing a mouse required.
- Basic Knowledge of office equipment (fax machine, copy machine and scanner) required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Ability to read and comprehend complex instructions, correspondence, and medical record documentation in English required.
- Must be willing to work in a Labor Management Partnership environment required.
- Also refer to position specifications outlined in the appropriate collective bargaining agreement.
