Job description
The IBM Interactive Web Architect role is will participate in the planning, design and development of highly interactive web sites for high profile clients. This position requires a well-rounded web architect with strong front end development experience including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Flash ActionScript 3, etc. This position also requires technical leadership experience, IBM SWG skills including WebSphere Message Broker V7, WebSphere Application Server V7+, DB2, IBM HTTP Server, WebSphere Portal Server V6+. This candidate will be expected to assist in growing the teams overall skill set through effective leadership and mentoring opportunities with new team members and assist with the overall strategic roadmap for the team. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in high profile interactive projects.
In addition, candidates would have excellent skills in most if not all of these core areas:
- Technical software and hardware system architecture
- Cloud computing
- HTML, JavaScript (including jQuery) and CSS development
- and Apache and/or IHS Webserver configuration management
- Apple iOS and/or Android Development
- Application configuration on WebSphere Application Sever/WebSphere Portal and J2EE development skills and the standard LAMP stack
- IBM Hardware skills specifically with IBM System X
- Video encoding and streaming including HDS and HLS
- Omniture and CoreMetrics analytics
- Content Delivery Networks and their use in HTTP caching, live and on-demand video distribution and network file storage
- Able to use Adobe Photoshop would be beneficial along with a general understanding of the whole Adobe Suite.
- Agile development and team leadership.
When working with other key stakeholders, the candidate should be able to articulate deeply technical concepts in a customer friendly and understandable way. This would involve being able to assist with project managers, designers and information architects in scoping and pricing front end applications as well as working with a team of developers during the build, test and deployment phases.
Finally we are looking for candidates with aspirations towards making the jump from technical architecture to technical consulting.
People Skills:
- The candidate should have experience working with a variety of clients at all levels of an organization as well as a level of comfort presenting their work in workshops and client meetings.
- Has developed relationships of mutual trust with people inside and outside of their organization based on respect, integrity, positive regard and an appreciation of the uniqueness of the individual.
Required
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 5 years experience in managing interactive applications and web sites
- At least 5 years experience in software development
- At least 5 years experience in the Internet industry
- Basic knowledge in mobile application development (iPhone/iPad/Android applications)
- Basic knowledge in social media based platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter)
- Readiness to travel Up to 4 days a week (home on weekends-based on project requirements)
- English: Basic knowledge
Preferred
- Master's Degree
- At least 8 years experience in the Internet industry
- At least 2 years experience in mobile application development (iPhone/iPad/Android applications)
- At least 2 years experience in social media based platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter)
- At least 5 years experience in live and on demand video
- At least 3 years experience in content delivery networks (CDN)
- At least 2 years experience in technical team leadership
- English : Intermediate
- French : Basic knowledge
