The Lab Manager will assist in planning and be responsible for executing practical courses using cadaveric tissue and other training mediums. These events are primarily centered around, surgeon training, new product development launches, as well as sales training programs. The Lab Manager will also support and coordinate the activities of field based labs to provide ongoing support of surgeon and sales training events sponsored by Professional Education.
The candidate's main focus will be to ensure a consistent lab experience for participants by following all established safety and lab procedures so that labs are orderly and provide a clean, OR type setting for participants. They will be responsible for overseeing a Raynham based Tissue Tech that will receive and handle tissue used for cadaveric training sessions. They will ensure events are compliant with policies, provide an environment for learning and are adequately resourced. The individual will interact with other colleagues within Professional Education, Sales Training and Market Development, Clinical Research, Research and Development and Convention Services to execute training programs and ensure requirements are met.
At the Raynham campus, the individual will oversee and assist with ordering of specimens for courses. They will ensure lab readiness which includes; prepare for EHS & compliance assessments, disposable and equipment/lab personnel are scheduled, perform and document a review of serology reports, and confirm lab participation and execution documents are complete post lab. He/she will assist with the smooth operation of entrance into the lab, including waiver signatures, and donning of proper safety equipment. Individual will also oversee associated lab instrumentation and fluoroscopy equipment for maintenance and repair. The candidate will identify new technology and equipment to meet changing education needs. Be attentive during lab and assist in resolving any issues or problems that may arise. He/she will be responsible for cleaning and sterilizing equipment, assisting with putting the equipment away and ensuring the equipment is shipped out following a lab. The candidate will be responsible for budget development, monthly lab cost review, prepare an estimate for each individual lab and send to requestors, and reconcile final bills.Supervise and manage lab routine activities, inventory management, lab activity reporting, and other related activities. Will be responsible to support planning and implementation of maintenance and renovation projects of the lab as appropriate.
Work with R&D and Market Development Groups and other necessary support teams or outside vendors to organize training programs, sales education, and new techniques and assure proper execution. Provide excellent response time, follow-up, and flexibility for professional education and sales training events. Know and follow all laws and policies that apply to one's job, and maintain the highest levels of professionalism, ethics and compliance at all times. Promote and nurture the highest standards of professionalism, ethics and compliance, and actively support our compliance program-related initiatives and activities. Consistently enforce employee compliance, including attendance at training programs, and promptly report any non-compliance.
Qualifications
A college degree is required, preferably in the Scientific or Medical field. At least 5 years professional experience in the medical device industry is required. At least 2 years of experience in a medical education field is required. Experience with handling cadaveric tissue is a must. Experience in a compliance environment is required. This individual must be comfortable lifting and transporting heavy equipment. Experience with coordinating multiple events at once while maintaining a high degree of professionalism is required. Strong communication skills, flexible attitude and ability to function as a member of a team are required. Must be highly motivated, well organized, creative, insightful, team-oriented, and diplomatic. Ability to think on your feet and problems solve in high stress situations. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Agile is preferred. Must have ability to work evenings and weekends when necessary. This position will require travel (10%) at times (domestic).
