Sr. Sales Compensation Consultant

Performs staff support activities to develop, implement and administer sales compensation policies and programs. Audits sales and account management jobs for content and prepares job descriptions/families reflecting job responsibilities, activities, duties and requirements. Develops and/or participates in compensation surveys to collect and analyze competitive salary information to determine company's competitive position. Reviews proposed salary adjustments for conformance to established guidelines, policies and practices. Recommends corrective or alternative actions to resolve compensation-related problems. Reviews requests for new or revised classifications to determine appropriate salary grade assignment.
Essential Functions:
- Completes and/or oversees salary survey benchmarking and overall program analysis.
- As Subject Matter Expert (SME), designs complex programs and/or policies to meet business needs.
- Works closely with leadership to understand organization needs.
- Prepares special studies and high impact recommendations related to compensation.
- Participates on highly visible task forces / project teams (as SME).
- Develops organization-wide communications.
- Responsible for business process improvement.
- Performs the most complex (non-benchmark & high level) job evaluations.
- Consults with complex client groups.
- Participates in or leads aspects of pay practice development.
- May design complex ad-hoc reports.
- Participates on regional and inter-regional projects.
- Monitors pay equity region-wide.
- Participates in costing impact of sales compensation programs.
- Leads aspects of the annual salary planning and variable pay plan administration process for sales and account management.
- Designs sales incentive plans and base pay plans for specific groups.
- Performs compensation program implementation rollout.
- Develops and costs salary structures.
- Develops training and communications; consults with managers / HR business partners.
- May identify comp systems and reporting functional requirements.
- Ensures that systems needs are met.
- Administers compensation plans with unique requirements (such as sales, union, etc.).
- Works on assignments of diverse and complex scope.
- Interprets less defined guidelines to make recommendations for process improvements and/or enhancements.
- Requires complex planning to coordinate with other departments or resources.
- Responsibilities impact the achievement of key functional and/or KP objectives that have direct and significant business impact.
- Contributes to the development of the department's objectives.
- Erroneous decisions or recommendations would normally result in the inability to reach functional objectives and negatively affect expenditures and resources.
- Develops solutions for a diverse range of complex problems, which require creativity and innovation within broadly defined policies and practices.
- Requires in-depth analysis to identify and recommend new solutions for more complex problems.
- Involves interpreting and analyzing established concepts and trends.
- Exercises considerable judgment to make decisions for less defined and complex issues.
- Requires complex decision-making.
- Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to assignment.
- Work is accomplished without considerable direction.
- Assume other duties as directed.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum five (5) years of sales incentive compensation incomplex,decentralized organization.
- Prefer eight (8) to twelve (12) years of compensation experience.
- Four (4) year degree in human resources or a related field or equivalent experience.
- Thorough knowledge and application of compensation principles, theories, policies, practices and systems, plus working knowledge of other related HR fields.
- Regularly contributes to the development of new compensation concepts, techniques, standards or department methods.
- Considered compensation expert within KP.
- Employs expertise as a generalist or specialist.
- Proficient to advanced skills in compensation systems and Microsoft Office applications to include Excel and/or Access.
