Description
McNeil Consumer Healthcare is currently recruiting for a Principal Scientist, Raw Materials located in Fort Washington, PA.
McNeil Consumer Healthcare markets a broad range of over-the-counter products, including TYLENOL® acetaminophen products; BENADRYL®, ZYRTEC® and ZYRTEC®-D allergy medicines; IMODIUM® A-D anti-diarrheal; MOTRIN® IB; and SUDAFED® and SUDAFED PE® nasal decongestants.
The Principal Scientist, Raw Materials must be a strong technical leader to manage R&D analytical projects associated with the analysis of Raw Materials and Reference Standards in a cGMP compliant environment. This individual will have technical capability on a wide range of analytical procedures, including HPLC, UV, FTIR, and wet chemical analyses. This individual will be instrumental in developing and approving new component specifications; interpreting compendial requirements; developing strategies to meet new requirements; troubleshooting raw material test issues both within the group and in support of the QC laboratory; characterizing and qualifying supplier changes for raw materials.
The Principal Scientist, Raw Materials will lead and participate in investigations relating to raw materials. This individual will write, review and approve SOPs. This individual will participate on internal project teams and external industry working groups.

Qualifications
A minimum of a Bachelors degree in Chemistry or similar discipline with 8 years of experience in a pharmaceutical and/ or compendial analysis capacity OR a Master's degree in Chemistry or similar discipline with 5 years of experience in a pharmaceutical and/ or compendial analysis capacity OR a PhD degree in Chemistry or similar discipline with 3 years of experience in a pharmaceutical and/ or compendial analysis capacity is required. Strong oral and written communication skills are required. Excellent people and project management skills are required. The selected candidate must have broad knowledge and experience with regulatory requirements including ICH, FDA, and compendia (e.g. USP, JP, EP, etc.). Strong knowledge of cGMPs are required. This person must be able to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment. The ability to negotiate and influence others is required. This position is located in Fort Washington, PA.
