Position Description: The Senior Reliability Engineer position supports Ryder's FMS reliability and analysis function, which has broad responsibility for evaluating the performance of Ryder's revenue earning equipment fleet, including vehicle and component performance.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering or related discipline.
  • A minimum of 4 (four) years experience in transportation or vehicle/engine manufacturing industry or a related field
  • Additional Requirements: - Master Degree preferred
    - Strong presentation skills
    - Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    - Strong analytical, research, mathematical modeling and forecasting skills
    - Strong organization, prioritization and planning skills
    - Ability to work cross functionally in order to achieve desired results
    - Understanding of relational database
    - Ability to manage multiple projects to timelines
    - Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification Preferred
    - American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certification preferred
    - Six Sigma Black/Green Belt certified or trained preferred, and knowledge of lean manufacturing

    Responsibilities:

  • Support the reliability program within Ryder to monitor the quality of vehicles and components provided by our suppliers.
  • Identify systemic issues impacting the quality and reliability of Ryder's fleet and provide support for FMS
  • Leadership in the development of action plans to correct the issues identified.
  • Specifically, work in conjunction with OEMs to develop a predictive model (by vehicle make, model and component) that can be integrated with Shop Management Online (SMO) to determine if work being attempted is within expected parameters (MTTF or MTBF) as defined by the engineering models.
  • Identify significant improvement opportunities to support division and corporate objectives.
  • Collect, organize and evaluate data to identify opportunities to improve cost, quality and product line performance.
  • Leverage reliability and fleet operating data to work with other Maintenance Standards and Engineering functions to improve Ryder's PM program and move towards a vehicle specific PM.
  • Prepare and disseminate performance reports for use by Maintenance Operations and assist management in their interpretation and application to improve performance, including detailed monthly analysis of running costs and fleet performance.
  • Work with Vehicle Supply Management to use reliability data to optimize warranty / extended warranty programs.
  • Support process improvement projects designed to promote reliability and product quality.
  • Ensure the integrity of performance systems and reports.
  • Review and report on performance against operational objectives and project success factors
