GENERAL SUMMARY



In this position you will be responsible for prospecting, presenting, and closing sales for health products directly to small employer groups. Attains defined business and enrollment goals for the direct selling channel. Accountable for achieving company defined sales objectives. This job requires that a majority of time is spent external to place of business engaged in direct selling duties.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

- Develops and implements an annual sales plan. The plan must provide sufficient detail to direct daily activity and measure success rates.
- Responds to all prospect requests for proposals and rate quotes. Develops proposals  and quotes for presentation to the prospect. Guidelines may apply.
- Meets with prospects to ascertain needs, to present proposals, and to achieve targeted close rates.
- Makes follow-up calls to sales leads in a timely manner.
- Exploits opportunities to secure business for other Coventry health plans. Works effectively and in collaboration with supporting departments.
- Ensures compliance with company and state regulatory and policy requirements.
- Develops and implements a time-saving process for scheduling meetings and maintaining a calendar with support staff, in accordance with segment process training.
- Attends internal sales meetings, training, and examinations.
- Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. 
- Appropriate state licensure to sell insurance required.
- Demonstrated track record of successful lead generation/prospecting, sales products and/or service and closing sales (motivating employer to take action).
- Previous (1-2 years) successful sales experience preferred, preferably in the health insurance industry. 
- Thorough understanding of the sales process. Previous training in advanced sales techniques preferred.
- General knowledge of the sales cycle and small business markets.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, presentation and communication skills.
