Supports CPMG Contracting Department by providing analytic expertise which promotes understanding of utilization, cost, quality and service of Colorado contracted providers. Accountable for creating a culture of compliance, ethics and integrity. Maintains knowledge of and assures departmental compliance with Kaiser Permanente's Principles of Responsibility and policies and procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Responds appropriately to observed fraud or abuse.
Essential Functions:
- Participates in implementation of new & existing functionality to support CPMG Contracting processes & accurate, complete data flow
- Recommends modifications to established practices & procedures or system functionality as needed to support CPMG Contracting Department
- Manages implementation of recommended changes
- Works w/ internal customers to ensure newly implemented workflows & procedures support CPMG Contracting integrity
- Builds complex queries using SQL in one or more tools (e.g. Business Objects, SAS, SQL Assistant, Crystal) to extract data from mainframe and server-based data repositories based on client requests.
- Performs intermediate to advanced spreadsheet analyses using Excel; develops reporting processes.
- Critically analyzes data using SAS or Excel; draws conclusions and effectively articulates results to internal clients.
- Effectively applies quantitative and statistical analysis to develop clinical and utilization reports.
- Translate strategic plans into actionable decision support
- Coordinates data extraction, testing, and development of proposals for internal and external comparison of the Colorado network physician practices, and make recommendations based on those analyses.
- Extracts, audits and compiles data for quality assurance and contract payment purposes.
- Capable of decision making that involves complex problem requiring extensive research, analysis and evaluation of multiple variables.
- Displays strong written and verbal communication and presentation stills; communicates effectively with all levels of leadership, staff and physicians.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
-Minimum of 3 years in a technical Business Analyst or similar role working w/ data warehouse and/or business intelligence environments
- Experience conducting sessions w/ business users to identify data sources, key facts & dimensions that support the business requirements
-Minimum of 3 years of experience w/ SQL or BI tools such as SAS, Cognos, Business Objects, etc.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in computer information systems, computer science, business, statistics, health services or related area
- Master's degree or higher may be substituted for up to 2 years of experience
- Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems & make recommendations for solutions based on independent analysis
- Strong oral, written & interpersonal skills for interacting & collaborating w/ analysts, physicians, & business staff throughout the organization; ability to communicate clearly in writing to document data requirements & translate into technical solutions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree
- Minimum of 5 years of experience w/ SQL or BI tools such as SAS, Cognos, Business Objects etc.
- Experience using high level SAS programming to perform data manipulation & analysis
