Responsible for patient focused, quality, efficient services for nursing & the BH Quality Management Program. Responsible & accountable for role clarity, communication, & perf. management of staff so that the best able to participate successfully as members of care teams. Supervises & coordinates activities of personnel engaged in providing patient focused nursing. Facilitates, coordinates, &/or directs development, implementation, & monitoring of the Behavioral Health Quality Assurance/Improvement program. Works in conjunction w/BH management to monitor & evaluate the quality & appropriateness of patient care, demonstrate effectiveness of care, & pursue opportunities to improve patient care. Maintains knowledge of & assures dept compliance w/KP's Principles of Responsibility & policies & procedures, & applicable regulatory reqts & accreditation standards. Responds appropriately to observed fraud or abuse.

Essential Functions:
- Supervises, leads, &coord. the activities of personnel engaged in providing excellent patient focused care & supporting physician practices through the provision of integrated, effective & innovative nursing. Interviews, selects, evaluates, motivates, orients, trains, disciplines & terms unit personnel in collaboration w/physician leaders in compliance with requirements of EEO/AA goals, union contracts, personnel policies. Continually improves service & staff productivity
- Acts as liaison btwn the physician groups, patient care unit, & call center to ensure effective communication for overall patient care services. Ensures highest nursing & Quality Standards, monitors clinical nursing practice & doc. w/in dept to meet &/or exceed appropriate nursing & licensing/accrediting agency guidelines &/or standards
- Develops, implements &monitors KP Behavioral Health QA/I program
- Develops & monitors performance indicators specific to improvement in BH status of patients & achievement of strategic goals
- Conducts/oversees quality improvement initiatives.
- Coordinates w/BH Mgmt Team to provide oversight for preparation &enactment of external reqts including infrastructure organization, alignment integration of standards & assurance of completeness/accuracy of information. Ensures that all QA/I activities are consistent w/applicable regulations & external & internal review requirements.
- Maintain a high level of competence specific to research methods, data analysis, trends in mental health research & outcomes &innovations in quality improvement.
- Maintain a high level of customer relations through attention to satisfaction of QI activities & products, timely completion of tasks/activities & efforts to collaborate w/key staff.
- Coordinates w/relevant parties w/in KP to ensure the integration of current/changing quality assurance issues & developments.
- Maintains current info & knowledge of all applicable KP policies, local, state & federal laws & regulations, & accreditation standards.
- Ensures training activities incorporate all applicable KP policies, local, state & federal laws & regulations, & accreditation standards.
- Coordinates & adheres to budgetary needs for operation of the unit in collaboration with medical group leaders.
- In addition to defined technical requirements, accountable for consistently demonstrating service behaviors & principles defined by the Kaiser Permanente Service Quality Credo, the KP Mission as well as specific departmental/organizational initiatives
- Also accountable for consistently demonstrating the knowledge, skills, abilities, & behaviors necessary to provide superior & culturally sensitive service to each other, to our members, & to purchasers, contracted providers & vendors
Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of nursing leadership experience required, including quality improvement and program evaluation experience
- Must be a graduate of an RN program that meets Colorado State Board of Nursing curriculum requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- Licensed as a RN in the State of Colorado
- Strong written, verbal & interpersonal communication skills required
- Position will work w/interruptions, w/bio-hazardous waste, working around machinery & moving equipment

Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree preferred
- BLS strongly preferred
