This position will lead, design, and support financial planning processes that drive and/or support performance. Provides the overall strategic direction and oversight of department in support of strategic finance initiatives and goals. Leads and manages complex finance projects working collaboratively with leaders. Directs all efforts to ensure highest customer/sponsor satisfaction and highest quality of the final work product. This position will be a partner and key point of contact between Finance and senior operational leadership on financial issues. Assists executive staff and board committees in identifying areas of opportunities for improvements on financial and operational issues.
Essential Functions:
- Serves as an expert consultant to senior leadership on major and highly complex healthcare issues with strategic importance.
- Works with senior leadership at the regional and local levels in identifying issues.
- For most projects, leads a team responsible for the conceptual design and action plans.
- Provides leadership and direction for the department in accordance with the overall strategic direction of Finance.
- Communicates information strategically, delivering results-oriented messages.
- Actively monitors operational and financial performance to anticipate and meet the needs of leadership.
- Drives for changes in work products and processes that will improve departmental efficiencies and effectiveness.
- Applies thorough understanding of key business processes to effectively anticipate and address the longer-term implications of decisions/actions.
- Manages all steps of major projects or processes and adjusts planned approach as required.
- Fosters a positive and proactive work environment, emphasizing respect for individuals, high standards of quality, customer service, innovation and team work.
- Emphasizes strong results orientation within department by motivating staff and holding them accountable to meeting customer needs and organizational goals.
- Facilitates the ongoing learning, well-being, professional satisfaction and development of staff through training, work assignments, increased responsibility/autonomy and mentoring.
- Partners with local and regional leadership to find new ways to enhance financial products and services.
- Understands interrelationships among systems and process across functional areas to redesign process, improve efficiency, and ensure optimal results.
- Identifies and communicates opportunities for change to improve performance.
- Able to operate in politically complex situations.
- Partner with all areas of the organization including regional and national areas.
- Accountable for one or more major financial processes in region such as planning, budgeting and performance monitoring.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- Extensive (ten (10) plus years) directly related financial experience with analytically challenging projects.
- Significant (five (5) plus years) general management experience.
- Significant experience with KP data sources.
- Direct operational experience.
- Bachelors degree in business administration, economics, finance, accounting, or related field.
- CPA or Master's Degree highly preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following: accounting, finance, quantitative analysis, financial analysis, healthcare economics, information systems, organizational development, health care delivery systems, project management or new business development.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws and regulations related to the healthcare industry.
- Excellent communications, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Capability to lead and influence senior executives around business issues.
- Proven ability to determine key business issues and facilitate/support the development of effective action plans from multi-disciplinary perspectives.
- Excellent skills in very complex analytic problem solving, strategic planning, program development, project management, change management and group process.
- Proven ability to communicate complex concepts to staff that may not have the same level of technical expertise.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in staff development, team building, conflict resolution, and group interaction.
- Proficiency with Microsoft office (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
