Under indirect supervision, assist the Registered Physical Therapist in the execution of patient treatment care as established by the Registered Physical Therapist. Assist with the training of Physical Therapy assistant students, Physical Therapy aides & other health care professionals.
Essential Functions:
- Uphold KP's policies and procedures, principles of responsibilities and applicable state, federal and local laws.
- Interpret and administer patient treatment care as established by the registered physical therapist; perform and instruct patients in routine and complex therapy exercises.
- Administer physical therapy treatment program to patients with a variety of medical disabilities.
- Observe patient's treatment care, comply and evaluate responses to treatment, document treatment plan according to standard procedures, adjust patient treatment program as conditions warrant, within guideline limitations.
- Assist with the training of physical therapy assistant students, physical therapy aides, and other health care professionals; may assist registered physical therapist with in-service training programs and patient care classes as required.
- Ensure cleanliness of assigned areas and proper functioning of patient care equipment by visual inspection, routine testing of prescribed procedures to provide a therapeutic and safe environment for patients and staff; reports any problems to registered physical therapists.
- Establish and maintain courteous, cooperative relations with the public, patients and other personnel.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Assume other activities and responsibilities from time to time as directed.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Graduate of an approved program and certified by the State of California.
- Ability to safely use required equipment.
- Any others tasks as assigned.
Notes:
- This is a Full-time, variable position. Hours will vary between 6:00 am - 6:00 pm.
- Position requires weekend IP coverage
- Position requires oversight of support staff, daily documentation, care planning, and treatment progression under the direction and supervision of a physical therapist.
- Provides outpatient Physical Therapy treatment at Kearny Mesa Rehab Center and inpatient Physical Therapy treatment at San Diego Medical Center. May treat at the various PT/OT facilities within the San Diego Service Area (San Marcos, Kearny Mesa, El Cajon, Otay Mesa, any other future locations). Responsibilities include provision of care under the supervision and direction of a physical therapist to a varied patient population including orthopedic, post op, general medical, pain, neuro rehab.
