General Summary: Define, lead and manage all medical affairs activities within the Therapeutic Area, focusing on life cycle management and product launch readiness. Supervise and develop the Medical Managers and Medical Scientific Liaisons. Member of Regional Medical Affairs Team
Duties and Responsibilities:
The following processes and activities fall under the direct responsibilities of this position:
§ Establish and provide strategic leadership for Medical Affairs, develop and execute initiatives for launch readiness and life cycle management of products
- Develop local medical affairs product plans
- Identify and develop strategies and tactics for the product and therapeutic area
- Identification of critical paths and tracking of projects related to products
- Work with other departments, OpCo heads and regional medical affairs teams to design launch readiness programs
- Lead regional clinical advisory board strategies, in conjunction with other Medical Affairs personnel
- Function as a medical and scientific expert to internal and external customers within areas of expertise
- Build relationships with key medical societies and healthcare providers
§ Start-up, Set up and Publication of Regional Clinical Trials and Related Activities:
- Plan clinical activities in conjunction with the regional medical affairs teams
- Study concept preparation for activities and approval of trials
- Development of study protocols
- Respond medical/technical queries on regional study protocols
- Validate the medical training content applied to investigators / independent physicians
- Oversight of clinical activities and determination of study suspension/termination
- Data management and preparation of scientific publications, posters and/or oral presentations
- Interact with Global Clinical Operations and Clinical Operations Head
- Provide support to investigator's requests for investigator-initiated studies according to company guidelines
· Review and assess the promotional materials and other scientific documents
- Review/preparation of product information kit, product monograph, core medical information responses, package inserts and promotional materials
· Review the medical content of regulatory dossier
· Function as a scientific expert on products to internal and external customers within areas of expertise such as clinical, scientific and health economics
- Provide scientific support to key opinion and thought leaders, community physicians, investigators and other healthcare providers
- Provide adequate medical input in country brand teams
- Provide feedback and medical intelligence on the market environment, promotional and clinical strategies, competition
- Review and approval of promotional materials
- Medical and scientific support via 1:1 interactions and information services
§ Planning, oversight, approval and set up of educational activities
- Sinergy with regional medical affairs to design and deliver regional educational activities
- Manage operations related to educational activities
§ Manage human resources and budgetary allocations
- Oversees the performance review process
- Reviews and recommend promotions
- Recruits medical affairs staff members
- Issues corrective actions
- Budget management and planning
Cualificaciones
This position is also accountable for the following processes and activities:
§ Establish and provide strategic leadership for all Medical Affairs activities and initiatives for compounds
- Collect product gaps, identify unmet medical needs and lead the development of local medical affairs plans, aligned with the regional strategies and tactics
§ Planning, oversight, approval, start-up, set up and publication of company-sponsored clinical trials and related activities
§ Design efficient and targeted investigator initiated research program
§ Planning, oversight, approval and set up of educational activities
- Sinergy with regional medical affairs to design and deliver regional educational activities
Oversee group compliance with regulations and J&J procedural documents
Education Level: MD, with previous experience as medical manager or senior academic degree and oral and written fluency in english
