Johnson & Johnson's Family of Companies, is recruiting for Environmental Health & Safety Co-op to be located in New Brunswick, NJ. We are currently seeking full-time co-ops for the late Spring/Summer 2013.
The Environmental Health & Safety Co-op will:
Translate J&J's strong legacy of sustainability and stewardship into a business driver for all of our 250+ operating companies by supporting green marketing and product stewardship group within WW Environmental Health & Safety Team.
Support the EARTHWARDS™ process. Act as a resource for brand teams pursuing designation, review applications and materials for the EARTHWARDS™ board, maintain documentation of scorecards, test scripts, & presentations. Ensure annual reviews are completed. Collect sales data and environmental impact data from EW recognized brands. Update and assist with design of the EW SharePoint website. Track website use and data.
Global Product Stewardship: Review global product stewardship regulations (WEEE, RoHS, EPR) pertaining to MD&D, pharm and consumer products. Create, update and present tools to product stewards at the operating companies to aid them in ensuring compliance. Review annual product stewardship award applications & present to panel.
Hospital Sustainability: Maintain RFP list from our hospital customers. Conduct research on hospital sustainability best practices and environmental purchasing. Create guidance documents on hospital sustainability. Complete award applications to gain visibility with hospital customers
Benchmarking & Research: Conduct semiannual benchmarking reports of competitors to gauge our sustainability and product stewardship efforts.
Strong ability to solve complex problems with limited oversight. Willingness to gather data and make recommendations to improve business operations and internal customer satisfaction. Ability to create and expand on ideas, proactively developing process and operational improvements. Creativity to think in terms of long term goals and targets while influencing business partners.
Basic technical understand is important for elements of the job, the ideal candidate would have an interest in marketing and the commercial aspects of our business. Also it will be important for the candidate to have a personal passion for sustainability as a business driver.
Limited travel including to local Operating Companies and conferences.
Qualifications
In order to be eligible for an Environmental Health & Safety Co-op position, candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college/institution pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Health, or related major. Also open to candidates that have some Marketing background. Only students in their second year or above will be considered. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred, with demonstrated leadership/participation in campus programs and/or community service activities. Candidate must be considered a student during the desired co-op session(s) (i.e. will not have already graduated college). Candidate must be available to work full-time (40 hours/week) during the specified co-op session(s). Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written is required. Must be authorized to work in the U.S. and not require sponsorship now or in the future.
