The individual in this position will be accountable for identifying, and dividing large and complex systems into manageable subsystems that can be handled by individual engineers. They will establish the basic structure of a large system, defining the essential core design features and elements that provide the framework for all that follows toward commercialization. This position will be responsible for, interfacing with the user(s) and sponsor(s) and all other stakeholders in order to determine their (evolving) needs. Generating the highest level of system requirements, based on the user's needs and other constraints such as cost and schedule. Partitioning large systems into (successive layers of) subsystems and components each of which can be handled by a single engineer or team of engineers or subordinate architect. Ensuring that this set of high level requirements is consistent, complete, correct, and operationally defined. Performing cost-benefit anlysis to determine whether requirements are best met by manual, software, or hardware functions; making maximum use of commercial off the shelf or already developed components. Interfacing with the design and implementation engineers and architects, so that any problems arising during design or implementation can be resolved in accordance with the fundamental design concepts, and user needs and constraints. Ensuring that a maximally robust design is developed. Generating products such as sketches, models, an early user guide, and prototypes to keep the user and the engineers constantly up to date and in agreement on the system to be provided as it is evolving. Investigate new technologies and contribute to the group's technology roadmap. Interface with IT organization for integration and implementation of enterprise systems. Manage outside companies providing both automation and enterprise level services. Design, plan and execute test and validation strategies for developed systems. Follows regulatory requirements governing medical product design and development. Exercises sound judgment while following safety and environmental best practices in all aspects of the job. Complies with local government safety and environmental regulations and company policies. Communicates effectively, both verbal and written. Maintains secrecy of confidential and sensitive information by observing all procedures regarding securing and transmitting privileged information.
Qualifications
This position requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in computer science related field. Candidates with a master's degree are preferred. This position will require 5 or more years of application delivery experience. This role will require strong personal leadership skills. Candidates with commercial and recent code development experience are preferred. Candidates with strong data analysis skills are preferred. A proven track record in successful contribution to team and individual efforts is required. Exceptional troubleshooting, data analysis and problems solving skills are required. This role will require a motivated, highly organized, committed individual who is committed to continuous improvement and learning. The ability to multi-task and switch easily between tasks and multiple projects is required. This position required collaborative and influence-based skills. In addition, this role will require excellent verbal and written communications skills. This role will require 5% travel and will be based in Jacksonville, FL.
