Job Summary


This role is responsible for:

· Assess impact and effectiveness of regional pricing strategies

· Conduct promotion analysis, post-event analysis and modeling

· Evaluate level of pricing execution by distributors and retailers

· Analyze price promotional performance for key holidays

· Analyze follow-up responses to local competitor pricing initiatives

· Development of the monthly volume forecasts and casuals

· Conduct due to analysis on volume, profit performance, and share

· Conduct ad-hoc business performance analysis in support of the General Managers

Key Elements



Revenue Management: Pricing Strategy, Price Planning, Mix Management, etc.


§  Lead GI price planning, provide diagnostics and insights to local market dynamics; build distributor-level recommendations, align to price strategies and review with Corporate Revenue Management team

§  Conduct business analysis on volume share, distribution, price performance, display performance, etc.

§  Conduct price modeling efforts in the local market, focusing on price elasticity and price gap management, using tools and approaches formulated by Corporate Revenue Management teams

§  Develop the appropriate Brand Ladder positioning & Pack Price Curves for the local markets, identifying opportunities to grow volume and/or profit

§  Conduct promotional pricing event-level analysis to evaluate promo efficacy (e.g., ROI) & optimal tactics (e.g., depth, duration, frequency)

§  Manage price promotion calendars and evaluation/recommendation of incremental requests for alignment with MUs goals (profit, share, volume, etc.)

§  Conduct periodic pricing strategy diagnostics & benchmarking, including competitive analysis, retail price surveys, local market interviews, etc.



Conduct Business Analysis



· Support the GM on weekly and monthly calls, GM reviews, distributor council meetings and other ad hoc requests as required


· Develop the local area volume forecasts, incorporating business analysis insights, trends and causals

§  In conjunction with the GM, develop the annual budgets for volume, revenue, marketing and price promotion spend

§  Execute tracking of specific, strategic initiatives; e.g. ‘Big Rock’, Distribution Target, etc.



Knowledge, Skills & Abilities



Education level and/or experience


· Four-year Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience required

· 2-4 years experience in some aspect of pricing—planning, analysis, execution/application, or reporting—in a Fortune 500 company (preferably CPG), consulting firm, market information/research company (ACNielsen/IRI), or market research department

· Knowledge of pricing and price promotion dynamics, preferably in a CPG, multi-tier pricing environment, and the ability to understand the long-term impact of pricing decisions

· Experience in quantitative disciplines, e.g., statistics, applied economics, etc.

· Excellent spreadsheet skills (functions/macros/VBA) and good relational database management skills (e.g., Access, enterprise databases)

· Experience utilizing/interpreting syndicated volumetric and pricing data (e.g., ACNielsen, IRI) a plus

· Knowledge of financial planning processes (e.g., P&L mgmt.) & valuation practices (e.g., NPV, EVA)  a plus
