To manage the labor relations function including supervision of Human Resources Consultants for the Mid-Atlantic States Region.
Essential Functions:
- Represents the Mid-Atlantic States Region in interactions w/ local labor unions, including high-level grievances, arbitrations, specified contract negotiations, joint task forces, committees, informal discussions/negotiations, & educational programs.
- Consults w/ & advises managers & supervisors regarding contract interpretation, change strategy, grievance/arbitration strategy, & steward relationships.
- Consults w/ & advises Human Resources managers & professionals regarding contract interpretation, labor/management history & precedent, disciplinary action, grievance strategy, union communications, & steward relationships.
- Provides supervision to the Human Resources Consultants to ensure proper deployment of resources, & prompt & accurate responsiveness & consultation.
- Consults w/ legal department, as needed, regarding legal issues, grievance/arbitration settlements, & staff labor relations training.
- Consults w/ Senior Director, Human Resources, as needed, regarding labor relations strategy, difficult labor relations situations, precedent setting decisions, & inter-department relations.
- Supports regional labor management partnership through collaboration w/ managers & union representatives, through presentations to employees, & through active participation on appropriate teams, committees & planning groups.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education & experience required.
- 5 years of labor relations' experience, preferably in the health care field, required.
- Management spokesperson experience in grievances & arbitrations required.
- Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively & collaboratively w/ union representatives while protecting the rights & interests of management required.
- Knowledge of relevant labor & employment laws required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in contract negotiations strongly preferred.
