Managesthose involved in the development, implementation, communication and/or maintenance of the company's benefits programs including, retirement plans, life insurance, disability insurance, flexible spending, health/medical/dental coverage, and time off. Provides continued development and implementation of compliance, communications, and /or design strategies, and consults in the development, design, and/or compliance of benefit plans and proposed changes. Responsible for leadership of a specific functional area of the Benefits Practice, and/or the overall Benefits Practice. Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function. Determines, guides, champions, and supports KP's strategy and philosophy with regard to its benefits programs in line with the Total Compensation strategy. Designs, develops, and/or implements benefit programs and program changes that permit the employer to control cost and/or maintain or improve our market competitiveness. Negotiates nationally with Health Plan, insured benefits, and/or other service providers and /or professional consultants to secure competitive rates and service levels. Continually assesses and assures the effectiveness of benefits programs under the Total Compensation umbrella in attracting, retaining, motivating and rewarding qualified employees, and/or compliance with the applicable government regulations. Consults with regional and Medical Group senior leaders, labor leaders, OLMP, finance, and/or HR leaders on design, implementation, maintenance and/or interpretation of benefit programs and policies.
Essential Functions:
- Manages the efforts of direct/matrix reporting positions. Responsible for selecting, developing, and deploying personnel in the most effective manner to meet assigned objectives. Responsible for performance management, compensation decisions, and providing on-going, regular developmental feedback. Influences and approves performance management, compensation decisions, and ongoing feedback for individual contributors reporting to direct report managers.
- Responsible for issue management in assigned functional areas. Proactively identifies and manages risks and issues related to projects and production operations relative to assigned functional area. Anticipates issues through regular communication with reporting positions, mitigating risk or escalating issues for resolution by more sr levels as necessary.
- Provides leadership in assigned functional area in all matters relating to laws, regulations, and other impacts upon Benefits Practice activities. Is both seen as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and leads direct/matrix reporting positions to increase functional expertise and keep abreast of legislative and regulatory changes and or market practices impacting the benefits practice.
- Responsible for management of project plans for individual objectives or projects and ensures project timelines/objectives are met for projects managed by reporting positions.
- Participates in the identification and development of objectives, goals, and strategy relative to functional area and the entire Benefits Practice and the entire HR functional area.
- Responsible for leading change management efforts related both to specific functional area and larger departmental goals or objectives.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- 3 yrs of leadership or management experience.
- 7 yrs of benefits or HR experience with multiple benefits plans (retirement, spending accounts, and welfare).
- Bachelor's degree in HR, bus. admin, or related field.
- Paralegal certification required for Documentation, Compliance, and Reporting functional area.
- Requires advanced knowledge of benefits and working knowledge of multiple related functions.
- Experience in consulting with clients and establishing/administering budgets and managing costs.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CEBS or similar benefits certification preferred
- Prefer 5+ years of leadership or management experience and 9-12+ years of benefits experience.
