McNeil Consumer Healthcare is currently recruiting for a Sr. Manager of External Manufacturing Operations - Direct Site Support based in Ft. Washington, PA.

McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc markets a broad range of over-the-counter products, including TYLENOL® acetaminophen products, ZYRTEC® and BENADRYL® allergy medicines, IMODIUM® A-D anti-diarrheal, MOTRIN® IB, and SUDAFED® nasal decongestants.

The Sr. Manager of External Manufacturing is accountable for the manufacturing results of one or more (based on volume, need, and / or technology platform) external manufacturing sites. This role will be providing technical quality, functional expertise as well as on-site support for the target External manufacturing site(s). This role will spend the majority of time while product is in production at the target External Manufacturing site to support the manufacture and packaging of McNeil products and possible issues, initiatives or projects that evolve. This function will closely partner with the external sites as well as with internal support functions. Additionally, deliverables include quality that meets all compliance and regulatory commitments, production to meet the planning schedule, customer service excellence, EH&S commitments, and financial goals for cost and inventory, including management and implementation of Consent Decree commitments and requirements. Building and maintaining a good relationship with the external manufacturing partners is an important part of this role. Responsibilities include identifying opportunities and leading cross-functional projects to significantly improve the operational effectiveness of the McNeil external manufacturing network. Examples include new product introduction and change control management, manufacturing process capability improvement, manufacturing and process robustness, and cost improvement management. Developing and executing a North America OTC external manufacturing strategy including business continuity planning and capacity planning is an important part of this role.

The Sr. Manager of External Manufacturing is accountable for all manufacturing results of the external manufacturing locations assigned to this role. This individual will oversee site productivity ensuring that planning schedule is on time, rapid resolution of any issues to drive excellent quality production. This role will have a Customer Service focus that will lead the way to proactively solve any issue to meet on-time delivery goals as well as oversee the partnership with the external site. This individual will ensure Safety/Environmental issues by actively driving implementation of regular audit schedule and follow-up items. The Sr. Manager will manage cost and ensure financial commitments are met for negotiated price, inventory, and cost improvements in addition to assuring completion of milestones meeting target timelines including communication related to progress, risks, etc. This individual will manage communications from the site to internal functions and partner with the Quality Account manager to assure correct timing and implementation of graphics changes. This individual will facilitate communications and McNeil priorities planned for the site and collaborate with the External Site on opportunities for improvement, technical issues, etc.

The Sr. Manager will have point of responsibility to ensure resolution of all supply issues impacting supply from the external manufacturer confirming the material supply is the right quantity and quality and on time. They will be responsible for the supply chain processes including capacity planning/management and adherence to plan as well as capital/expense appropriation by way of partnering with Technical/Engineering resources to develop as project timeline and budget. The Sr. Manager will lead site projects while partnering with supporting functions to deliver per established timelines. This individual will lead new product launch, technology transfer and product/process changes to ensure all quality goals are met and on-time startup is achieved. The Sr. Manager will build and maintain external manufacturer relationship to ensure alignment on business needs and partnership to drive responsiveness and reliability to deliver product which meets all quality requirements and customer service metrics. This individual will also ensure that the right resources are engaged to rapidly drive issue resolution to meet commitments - i.e. root cause analysis, technical problem solving, packaging and process improvements. The Sr. Manager will also have leadership and people reporting responsibilities for contract account managers.

Qualifications


A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree plus 10 years of relevant professional experience within an OTC, Pharmaceutical and/or Medical Device and Diagnosis regulated industry is required. A focused degree in Engineering or a closely related Technical discipline is preferred. New Product startup and Technology Transfer experience is strongly preferred. It is preferred that this candidate have experience and knowledge of the Technical support of Packaging, Liquid Products and Solid Products. A demonstrated understanding and use of Pharmaceutical, OTC and/or MD&D regulatory, quality, and compliance requirements in a manufacturing environment is required.

This individual must have a demonstrated track record of leading high performing manufacturing operations. Strong people management and development skills as well as previous organizational leadership experience are required. Excellent communication and influencing skills are required as this candidate must have the ability to make decisions and defend the decision (including point of view) to business partners. Previous Experience with Six Sigma/Process Excellence Tools, Training and/or Certification is preferred. Project management experience is preferred. A demonstrated ability to work in team environment with focus on internal and external relationship development is required. The ability to work in fast paced environment with multiple priorities is a must.

This position will be based in Ft. Washington, PA and may require up to 60% travel to the External Manufacturing site assigned.
