The Senior Research Scientist, Tumor Immunology will join the department research efforts in the discovery and development of biologics that function as immune modulators for the treatment of cancer. S/he will be responsible for managing a small team of 1-2 Research Associates and leading one of the research programs across the different stages of pre-clinical drug discovery. His/her responsibilities include the design, execution and interpretation of studies for the validation and characterization of new targets and therapeutic agents in the area of tumor immunology. The scientist will effectively and frequently collaborate with colleagues in the oncology, immunology and antibody development groups as well as present scientific results to multidisciplinary teams and senior management.

The Senior Research Scientist, Tumor Immunology will lead a novel large molecule drug discovery program in tumor immunology. S/he will demonstrate ability to design, perform and interpret complex in vitro, ex vivo and in vivo experiments. S/he will be proficient in the analysis and understanding of immune cells and molecules (rodent and human) as well as ex vivo analysis of immune cells by FACS, functional assays, IHC and ELISA. This individual will have experience in Cell/molecular biology: in vitro immune cell activation assays; ADCC, CDC, ADCP, basic cloning of stable cell lines; cell culture; analysis and purification of primary immune cells from murine tissues and human blood.

The Senior Research Scientist, Tumor Immunology will demonstrate the ability to analyze and present data in professional 'publication ready' format. S/he will demonstrate the ability to manage multiple in vivo and in vitro experiments simultaneously. This person will demonstrate the ability to contribute on various projects outside of his/her own, and collaborate with stakeholders from all relevant functions. S/he will keep up-to-date in the literature related to his/her field. Act as an expert resource in his/her scientific field and in related disciplines. This individual must possess clear and professional verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to supervise and guide junior Research Associates.

Qualifications


A PhD degree with 3+ years post-doctoral experience in cellular and/or tumor immunology or a closely related field is required. Relevant pharmaceutical/biotech experience is desirable. A strong track record in cellular and/or tumor immunology with a track record of publications in the field is required. Familiarity with tumor models and mechanisms of anti-tumor responses with strength in the analysis of the activity of T cells, macrophages and NK cells in anti-tumor immunity is highly desirable. Intellectually curious and well informed on the latest scientific advances in the field is desired. Demonstrated creativity and novel approaches to solving scientific problems is desired. Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with people, internally and externally is required. Ability to supervise and guide junior scientists is preferred. Detail-oriented, with excellent record-keeping skills is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Able to effectively present scientific data and concepts to international standards is required. This position is located in Spring House, PA.
