Description
Noramco, Inc., a member of J & J's family of companies is recruiting for a Process Scientist, located in Athens, GA.
Noramco, Inc. produces a variety of active pharmaceutical ingredients and is a major worldwide producer of medicinal analgesics, pharmaceutical intermediates and synthetic fine organic chemicals. It also produces monomers for pharmaceutical and medical devices.
Under direct supervision, this role conducts process research and development in diverse range of chemical development projects that seek to maintain or improve manufacturing costs, yields, quality and/or capacity, as well as evaluate new business opportunities.
The Process Scientist will be responsible for the planning, performing and reporting of laboratory work in support of developing new processes, technology transfers, and improving existing processes. She/ he will develop and perform laboratory/pilot experimental design and will collect experimental data, perform data interpretation and report generation, and will present results and conclusions to colleagues, management and project teams. The Process Scientist will perform synthesis of impurity standards to support new product introduction efforts and/or reference standard program needs and will participate in team efforts and collaborations with colleagues on process/analytical efforts. The successful candidate will be familiar with analytical methods and instrumentation and will evaluate new raw material sources to ensure adequate performance in production. She/ He will conduct troubleshooting of plant processes to resolve production or quality problems, will assist others in use or troubleshooting of laboratory equipment and will be responsible for the upkeep of laboratory instrumentation, equipment and facilities. In addition, the Scientist will adhere to and promote company standards regarding conduct, housekeeping, safety and quality
Qualifications
A minimum of a BS degree in organic chemistry or related field with a minimum of 2 years of related experience is required. An advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in organic chemistry or related field would be preferred, with equivalent combination of education and research or industry experience would be considered. Knowledge and/or expertise in organic chemistry is required. Knowledge of cGMP regulations is highly desired. Experience with chemical process development is preferred. Proficiency in the use of computer software to meet business needs, including word processing and mathematical applications would be a plus.
This position will require the ability to work with people, influencing their output and work behavior. Furthermore, this position will require the ability to work in situations where speed and sustained attention are essential along with performing a variety of tasks without loss of production. Attention to detail is required, along with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
The successful candidate must be able to qualify for respiratory protective equipment use and must be able to adhere to all required safety standards. This position may require the successful candidate be available to work overtime on a scheduled or emergency basis. This position will be located in Athens, GA
