Description

McNeil Consumer Healthcare Division of McNEIL-PPC, Inc is currently recruiting for a QC Analytical Scientist Intern for Summer 2013 located in Lititz, PA.

Johnson & Johnson has a family of companies consisting of more than 250 operating companies in 57 countries. McNeil Consumer Healthcare is the largest over-the-counter pharmaceutical company in the United States, and leader around the world. Its primary product lines include brands such as, Listerine®, Desitin®, Ben Gay®, and Lubriderm®, as well as many others.

The QC Analytical Scientist Intern will perform, under routine supervision, physical and chemical testing of raw materials, materials in process, and finished products to assess conformance to applicable standards. They will perform laboratory testing of raw materials, materials in process, and finished products using classical wet methods and validated instrumental methods of analysis, in accordance with Company test methods. They will assure that instruments used in analytical methods are calibrated and performing properly. They will perform investigational testing of complaint samples using appropriate analytical methods. They will perform standardization of solutions and instruments as required and record results in official logs. They will record all results of testing in logbooks, directly on report forms or into the laboratory computer system using proper documentation. They will maintain records in accordance with cGMP. They will embrace and demonstrate the Company's values on an ongoing basis. They will perform other duties as assigned and directed. They will communicate potential problems and issues to the Team Leader in a timely manner. They will review unusual assay results with the Team Leader to determine the method of solution, and suggest appropriate alternative tests. They will initiate and complete analytical laboratory investigations in a timely manner. They will acquire, maintain, and apply current professional knowledge and skills associated with the job. They will demonstrate competent computer use (entry / retrieval), and order laboratory supplies as needed. The QC Analytical Scientist Intern will also adhere to regulatory, Johnson & Johnson, and departmental requirements.

Qualifications


The qualified applicant must be legally authorized to work in the United States without limitations and require no sponsorship for visa status now or in the future (e.g. H1-B status). They must be a student enrolled in a full-time undergraduate degree seeking program with an emphasis in science or engineering, preferably in chemistry or chemical engineering. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is required at the time of application. At least 1 year (2 semesters) of science related college course-work, including general chemistry and laboratory is required. Knowledge of analytical instrumentation and laboratory procedures are also required.
