This position provides leadership and direction for all the following positions:
1. VP Enterprise Architecture
2. VP Shared Application Serivces
3. VP Information Management
This position sets the strategic direction for the technology as it relates across the entire KP organization. This role creates a vision for IT that supports business goals, serving as the translator between business and IT, and serves as the hands-on technologist who often presents an external face for KP's various technology platforms.
As the lead technologist for KP, the VP, Technology Office defines how software if built and how software is structured. He/she provides internal services and centralized software responsibility. He/she is responsible for both strategic and operational goals and serves as an evangelist to developers. The VP, Technology Office is responsible for all future oriented technology evaluation and research and oversees a research function that instigates and evaluates new research deiretions and tracks technology trends.
As a key member of the IT Senior Leadership team, reporting to the CIO and aligned to the Executive Vice President, this position will have management responsibility for the 350 employees and 11 executives and a budget of approximately $200M.
Essential Functions:
Enterprise Architecture
- Maintain knowledge of technology standards, industry trends, emerging technologies, and software development best practices
- Spearhead research and case studies on leading edge technologies, and performance benchmarks
- Anticipate major technology shifts and develop appropriate contingency plans
- Identify opportunities and risks for delivering technology capabilities, including identification of competitive services, opportunities for innovation, and assessment of marketplace obstacles and technical hurdles to the business success.
- Oversee policies and structures for managing the underlying IT infrastructure (including KP's computers, servers, peripherals, telecommunication systems, Internet connectivity networks, software applications, and data centers)
- Define and communicate KP values and standards for acquiring or developing systems, equipment, or software
- Define key technology strategies and roadmaps
Analytics & Information Management
- Champion data as a strategic business asset and company driver to executives, employees, and customers
- Develop a data strategy defines priorities for the company in the area of data systems and opportunities that leverage data assets
- Determine new opportunities (efficiency and revenue), acquisition strategy, and customer data policies
- Steward and implement data management strategies and standards
- Institutionalize data quality management
- Increase revenue, customer approval ratings, customer retention, and market goodwill through the effective governance and use of data.
- Establish and oversee governance processes relative to data structures, standards and ownership
Application Utilities & Process
- Establish systems development lifecycle processes, policy and standards
- Maintain lifecycle technical standards and ensure adherence
- Lead application deployment process and oversee application performance
- Ensure SOA technology standards and best practices are maintained across the organization
- Champion standards of performance and monitor conformance for staff and vendors
- Ensure company technical problems are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner
- Manage database administration across the enterprise in partnership with key strategic vendors
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or an equivalent level of education and experience
- 15+ years of progressively more responsible roles in Information Technology and/or healthcare IT business, including 7 or more years at Vice President level or above at the corporate, group, or business -unit level.
- Successful track record of IT leadership, execution and delivery. Experience leading IT organizations in applying innovative IT solutions in support of the business.
- Experience managing Executive staff along with expense multi - million dollar budgets.
- Executive level professional that is collaborative and accustomed to working within an end to end delivery as well as matrixed organization structure.
- Demonstrated experience and accomplishments in developing, recommending and influencing decisions based on a strong business case - develop consensus, and communicate effectively in business (non-technical) terms.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prefer advanced degree, MBA, MS, MA, or PhD.
- Experience in a healthcare oriented organization. Experience could be gained through a combination of consulting and client-side positions, but must include substantial supervisory leadership experience.
