The Manager, Medical Science, is the primary clinical/medical representative for new product development projects. The main responsibilities include being the clinical core team member on all product development project teams. In this capacity, the incumbent is responsible for generating the evidence strategy to support clinical claims and participates in characterizing the product's capabilities and clinical workflows in collaboration with the Marketing, R&D, and other development team members. Represents BW as an EP medical device expert with physicians about the use of BW products under development and regarding investigator initiated studies. Also presents to internal and external audiences including the global sales organization as part of new product training.

The Manager, Medical Science will establish the clinical evidence development strategy in collaboration with BW Marketing, Research and Development, Clinical Operations, Regulatory Affairs, Health Economics and similar stakeholders to ensure feasibility and subsequent testing of new products will prove the products' clinical usage and support intended claims. Provide clinical input to the product feature set and key product requirements prior to Design Freeze. Provide clinical input into risk analyses such as design and process FMEAs and clinical readiness reviews. Execute non-clinical animal testing (internally or with external physicians). Develop clinical competitive rebuttals in support of BWI products. Drive the creation of appropriate studies, publications presentations, and other relevant proof sources to support the clinical claims. Create presentations to train the field force on product clinical messages and appropriate data dissemination, including the preparation of sales training materials and delivery of sales training. Monitor the effectiveness of the clinical claims and competitive rebuttals. Collaborate with Regional Marketing Leaders to regionalize the clinical message for existing products. Provide clinical input to the Strategic Marketing Group & BD as required.

Qualifications


A BS degree in a Laboratory Science program (Chemistry, Biology & Microbiology) is required. An MD would be beneficial for this role. A minimum of 5 years in a technical capacity relevant to medical device development (Engineering, Science, etc.) is required. A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience working with the Electrophysiology community is preferred. A strong understanding of cardiac electrophysiology procedures and the products used therein (BW and competitors) is required. Proven leadership skills and the ability to influence others are required. The capability of writing, designing and critically evaluating protocols for and results of non-clinical (animal) EP procedures is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required. Excellent presentation skills are required. The candidate must be a self-starter and able to prioritize multiple tasks to meet strict deadlines. A strong ability to understand and articulate technical information to people from various disciplines is required. The ability to travel up to 50% Domestic/International travel, including weekends is required.
