Under general supervision, the Engineer I will be responsible for the development, qualification and transfer of package test methods. With general guidance plan, coordinate and execute the development, qualification and transfer of package test methods for primary packaging components.

Author test method qualification and transfer protocols, reports and related test method SOPs. Conduct benchmarking with internal/external sites and suppliers on current methodology, including equipment and procedures. Lead/assist in the identification of the rationale and strategy that will be used to qualify the test methods and equipment that are being developed. Utilization of recognized statistical practices for method qualification activities. Provide training to respective engineering or site personnel on package test method and testing equipment procedures. Offer an assessment of package suitability and improvements based on testing observations. Actively manage project deliverables and provide clear and timely status updates. Participate in cross-functional business teams.

Qualifications


A BS in Packaging Science/Engineering is required. A minimum of 1 year of experience in either pharmaceutical, medical device, biotech or other FDA-regulated industry is required. Familiarity with Package Test methods is required. Knowledge of Packaging Materials, including bottles, closures, induction liners, blister lidding and film, and pouching is required. Good documentation practices are required. A background in Packaging Science & Technology is preferred. USP, ASTM, SPI methods for package testing or measurement is preferred. Package Test Method development for packaging components is preferred. Technical writing skills are required. Statistics experience is preferred. Method Validation/Qualification is preferred. This position will be based in Fort Washington, PA and may require up to 25% travel.
