Purpose of the position:

- Reports to the Communications Cluster Leader, Communication & Public Affairs, who is responsible for 4 Franchises within the Cluster comprising France, Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxemburg
- Provides external communications support for the cluster-based franchises in Belgium, The Netherlands and Luxemburg
- Executes external communications plan for franchises
- Supports cluster external communications
- Develops and recommends strategies to incorporate new media approaches to meet communications goals
- Collaborates with internal communications specialist and supports senior leadership initiatives
- Based in Cluster region
- Position split is 70% externally facing and 30% internally facing

Primary Responsibilities of the function:

- Work with Cluster Communications Leader to create and execute strategic external communications programs targeting Cluster-based stakeholders addressing the geography's franchises / business units
- Collaborate and coordinate with other business partners (e.g. marketing, CSR) on creative, engaging programs to promote the business objectives of the Cluster
- Play key a role in developing and managing content creation for media events / workshops, publications, videos, speeches at conferences, senior executive external presentations and internet portals for in Cluster
- Provide support for key events (e.g. congresses) including leveraging media materials (e.g. selling in data press releases to media)
- Work with Cluster leader to manage external communications aspects of issues - including but not limited to message creation, statement development and acting as spokesperson should Cluster Leader be unavailable
- Monitor issues and trends of strategic importance
- Partner closely with Cluster communications leader to provide insight into how to execute programs in Cluster, and to execute same
- Build relationships with key stakeholder groups (e.g. patient advocacy groups)
- Research and keep abreast of latest developments in new media and social media space
- Develop and implement strategies and recommendations for using digital media and other creative and interactive approaches to drive external stakeholder engagement
- Partner with franchise marketing teams on maintaining an external image and graphics library for the Communications & Public Affairs department
- Create and maintain media distribution lists for Cluster
- Collaborate with Cluster internal Communications Specialist to deploy internal communications programs and creative, engaging programs that help unite the cluster - generate understanding of J&J's ONE Medical Devices & Diagnostics structure & business goals and priorities, help employees celebrate successes, etc.
- Collaborate with Cluster Internal communications specialist to develop and deploy content creation for town halls, publications, employee meetings, videos, speeches, executive emails and intranet portal for employees in Cluster
- Provide logistical support for key leadership events

Qualifications


- Bachelor's degree in business management or related discipline (communications or journalism desired)
- 5+ years of experience managing healthcare communications and public affairs is preferred. Experience in public relations/public affairs agency, an NGO, government agency or related corporate experience is also desirable
- Experience in external communication
- Strong working knowledge of new media technologies with track record of use in internal communications activities
- Strong media relations experience, including acting as spokesperson and handling media relations outreach
- Excellent knowledge of the external media (print, on-line, TV & radio) environment
- Experience working with and managing agencies and consultants, and managing budgets
- Fluent in French, Dutch and English
- Based in Brussels and willling to travel and work in the Netherlands (part time)
- Strong track record of collaboration and relation building with other stakeholders (eg HR, Legal, Marketing,...)
- Communication Skills
