Assists the Outpatient Pharmacy Director with the development and implementation of pharmacy strategic initiatives.
Essential Functions:
- Assists the Outpatient Pharmacy Director with the development and implementation of pharmacy strategic initiatives.
- Assists the Outpatient Pharmacy Director by providing leadership and direction of the pharmacy services/activities/functions, including drug distribution, drug education, pharmacist clinical activities, retail business expansion, performance measurements, regulatory compliance, employee development and multi-disciplinary team development, in a single large and/or multiple small/medium pharmacy location(s).
- Manages departmental personnel and operational practices to ensure compliance with Federal and State laws and regulations, T.J.C., O.S.H.A., SBOP, Statewide and Departmental policies and procedures.
- Sphere of influence includes Pharmacy Staff, Other Members of the Pharmacy Management Team, CA Regional Pharmacy Leadership Team, Providers, Department Administrators, Physician-In-Charge, Medical Group Leadership, Hospital Leadership, Area Union Representatives.
- Provides personnel management activities (e.g., recruits, hires, trains and evaluates, and/or terminates subordinate exempt and hourly personnel), involved in strategic workforce planning and succession planning.
- Works with Human Resources in handling employee grievances.
- May assist the Outpatient Pharmacy Supervisor - Hourly to prepare and/or approve the biweekly payroll.
- Serves as the pharmacy leadership point of contact by developing strong collaborative relationships with the Medical Center/Medical Office leadership and the Medical Group to achieve service area and Medical Center goals.
- Communicates regularly to the Outpatient Pharmacy Supervisors - Hourly and Outpatient Pharmacy Managers - Hourly to inform, support, mentor, coach and develop their knowledge and skills.
- Provides direction and leadership to supervisory and management employees.
- Monitors and makes adjustments to personnel utilization in accordance with operating budget.
- Develops and recommends the departmental operating budget (payroll and non-payroll).
- Participates in designing, implementing and evaluating systems, processes and methods designed to enhance quality, improve service, and enhance cost effectiveness.
- Works in collaboration with providers, department heads, and the Outpatient Pharmacy Director to implement, evaluate and improve quality management programs.
- Provides resolution to service complaints by Health Plan members, other Kaiser health care professionals, department heads, and employees.
- Administers organizational and department policies and procedures.
- Minimal to no online dispensing duties.
- Performs other duties.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Two (2) years (usually) previous supervisory/management experience in an Integrated Delivery System or healthcare network comprised of multiple sites/facilities.
- Previous courses completed, in pharmacy business management or related subjects preferred.
- B.S. in Pharmacy required.
- Pharm. D. preferred.
- Current CA Registered Pharmacist License.
- Proficiency in various databases and other computer usage.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to and work with a professional team.
- Demonstrated abilities and skills in pharmacy business management, customer problem-resolution, leadership and supervision.
- Ability to demonstrate and apply knowledge of contemporary outpatient pharmacy operations principles and standards, including clinical, professional, legal, business, and public relations aspects.
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency in oral and written English-speaking communication skills.
- Ability to extract pertinent information from patients, or other sources, to apply to the patient's medical management plan.
- Must have a working knowledge of applicable Federal and State pharmacy regulations, and T.J.C. and O.S.H.A. requirements.
- Must possess the ability to lead and manage professionals and others through influence and collaboration in single and/or multiple pharmacies.
- Must possess the advanced communication skills necessary to be the administrative point-of-contact for leadership and work collaboratively with and lead multi-disciplinary teams.
- Must possess self-initiative, innovative and collaborative skills.
- Must pass background check.
- Must be able to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
