Job Summary
This position will provide data and analytics support nationally for the Kaiser Permanente Individuals and Families (KPIF) line of business. The primary focus for this position will be to support KPIF business performance reporting (BPR) operations, including membership, sales, operational and financial data. Data is sourced from mainframe files, data warehouse reports, vendor extracts, departmental spreadsheets and databases, and internet/intranet sites, for easy use by internal business and analytical clients. This role will support the on-going data standardization processes, monthly report publications, gathering of new requirements and new data sets and development of new reports.
The secondary focus of this position is to support KPIF operational reports for all Shared Services regions, including re-building our operational reporting environment and infrastructure; maintaining and trouble-shooting existing reports; and developing and maintaining new reports. Operational reports range from daily reports required to support functional departments (e.g. Medical Review) to regional reports required for State regulatory reporting to National reports required for Health and Human Services reporting.
Essential Functions
Data Analysis:
- Identifies data source, gathers and analyzes data relevant to processes and reports
- Recommends data requirements. Insures data integrity
Reports:
- Creates and maintains databases and reports
- Translates business requirements into final reports
- Recommends and assists in the development and implementation of maintenance policies
Data and Report Integrity:
- Assures quality control by verifying results of the computer run in accordance with established procedures
- Troubleshoots and resolves escalated job failures and anomalies
- Triages data problems
Communications and Change Control:
- Assists in development of analytical framework required to analyze performance
- Serves as subject matter/technical expert to peers and data consumers on membership and sales data sets
- Involves interpreting and analyzing established concepts
- Participates in determining objectives of assignment
- Attends and participates in project meetings and activities
- Communicateswith management
- Reviews and ensures adequacy of technical operating instruction manuals, system and report documentation, standards and procedures
- Adheres to KP compliance guidelines and standards at all times
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- 4year degree in related field OR equivalent experience
- 2 -5 years of related experience
- Frequent use and general knowledge of market strategy practices, techniques, and standards
- Must know how to manipulate databases such as MS Excel and/or Access, as well as manipulating reports and generating reports
- Working knowledge of membership, rates, financial, economic and competitive data
- General application of concepts and principles
- Full use and application of standard principles, theories, concepts, and techniques
Preferred Qualifications:
- 4 year degree in Economics, Finance, Health Care Administration, Public Health Administration, Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research, or related field required, or equivalent work experience.
- 2 - 5 years of data analysis, consulting, programming or related business experience.
- Demonstrated experience in relational databases, SQL Server, Oracle, DB2 and ODBC connectivity.
- Previousexperience writing SQL code and working withSSIS package
- Working knowledge and demonstrated ability to create and execute business reports using SAS BI.
- Experienced with data delivery - knowledge in data communications in a specific mail system such as Lotus Notes or Exchange and web data delivery
- Experienced with data presentation - Crystal Report, Excel
- Experienced with data consolidation platforms such as data mart, data warehouse
- Experienced and facile with data query
- Health care or health insurance experience preferred.
- Fluent in Windows operating environment
