This newly created position will be responsible for the development, management and enhancement of usage forecasts, tools and reports, for medical supply products utilized in Kaiser Permanente facilities and presenting them to the consensus forecasting team for review/adjustment through the combination of business intelligence and statistical modeling, projections of future usage needs are built to enhance forecast accuracy, in support of Kaiser Permanente's Supply Chain Transformation Initiative.
Essential Functions:
Core/Essential Job Functions:
- Assist in the development of process flows, meetings, deliverables and key performance metrics (stockout levels, MAPE, DoS, etc.)
- Ensure the creation and maintenance of forecast models based on the forecasting & supply strategy model principles.
- Develop demand forecasts at multiple levels of aggregation for multiple time horizons. Continually work to fine tune statistical forecast and historical usage outliers and proactively develop techniques to improve forecasting errors and accuracy.
- Function as the primary expert regarding demand for medical products at KP sites. Use this expertise to advise the consensus team regarding how various demand events impact operations.
- Develop annualized forecasts for recommendation to Finance on Financial Plan, by converting demand to ship goals and establishing monthly seasonality. Develop annual inventory roll based on Financial Plan for recommendation to Finance on Inventory Plan.
- Identify and implement product utilization savings opportunities to support achievement of organization's utilization savings goal.
Clinical & Operations Planning:
- Coordinate cross-functional research and consensus activities to reconcile significant variances and refine the forecast model.
- Participates on National Sourcing and Standard Teams (SST).
- Actively participate in and present key forecasting information at Local Product Councils.
- Gather, analyze and validate data to enable purchasing decisions which optimize KP's medical supplies inventory.
- Review historical trends, research demand drivers and prepare forecast data to develop statistical forecast models.
- Incorporate business intelligence and insights from functional areas including; Pharmacy, Home Health, Finance and other sources.
- Develop and utilize metrics and dashboards to achieve department goals.
Inventory Optimization:
- Achieve inventory reduction targets through the use of supply chain tools and methodologies (consignment, transfers, etc.)
- Develop, manage, implement and track improved inventory re-order points through utilization of Par Optimization tools.
- Develop, recommend and update economic order quantities.
- Assist in design and development of work stream replenishment strategies.
Product Conversion Process:
- Support preparation activities in support of the Product Conversion Process (cross-reference, exit/entry plans, usage data, etc.)
- In partnership with the Product Support & Sourcing teams, use conversion event post-audit data to analyze the effectiveness of product conversion. Use the resulting insight to forecast the impact of future product conversions. Advise management regarding which product conversions are most effective under which circumstances.
Point of Use (POU) System Implementation:
- Support the deployment of a new Point-of-Use capture system to drive a demand triggered replenishment process.
- Responsible for integrating POU data into enterprise wide forecasts driving purchasing decisions.
- Develop KP's capability to leverage the point of use demand triggers to build forecasts and re-order points across multiple regions.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Business, Operations, Logistics, or related discipline from a four-year college or university.
- At least three (3) years of related supply chain experience in operations, pharmaceutical, medical, consumer products, or related field (Supply Chain, Logistics, Project Management, Procurement, Purchasing, and Forecasting & Planning).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Methodology is preferred.
- SCOR training a plus.
- APICS certification a plus.
- Experience with Oracle, PeopleSoft and Demantra a plus
