Manager Broker Development
Oakland or Burbank, CA

Providing strategic direction, coordination, development and implementation of broker value added services and developmental programs which positively impact the broker relationship and opinion of Kaiser Permanente. Additionally, responsible for leading a team in assisting Sales and Account Management in achieving business line goals by increasing channel presence, image, awareness, and effectiveness.
Essential Functions:
- Leads large-scale broker development efforts to support KP's overall broker strategy while generating revenue and net income through increased broker knowledge and effectiveness. Responsible for the development and implementation of broker trainings, forums, continuing education, and certification programs. Provides leadership, oversight, and expert consultation on the design, development, and implementation of process and programs related to broker development areas. Sets the overall direction of broker development to address key organizational issues.
- Develop new and existing broker recruitment and development strategies to assist Sales Leadership in attracting and retaining top quality agents to effectively market Kaiser Permanente products. Works with various departments and business line partners to grow revenue, enhance performance, and expand broker services. Also leads efforts to design, develop, and implement new broker development ideas. Provides staff leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams, as well as manages work of outside consultants or business line partners when used.
- Organize, coordinate, and facilitate broker appreciation events that will positively impact the overall market image and presence of KP in conjunction with business line objectives and channel strategies in the California regions or as needed.
Responsible for the development and execution of the broker programs and communication efforts including Platinum Circle, Broker Briefings, Broker Newsletters, Broker Web tools, broker advertisements.
- Designs research plans for data gathering and analysis; participates significantly in interpreting analysis and developing action plans accordingly based upon feedback from broker advisory meetings and surveys. Initiates, develops and implements a set of cross functional team projects to improve broker development and channel sales performance in conjunction with business line strategies.
- Develop, implement, and revise as necessary, broker reward programs to meet the needs of the Broker Channel in conjunction with and coordination through various departments meeting specific budget and financial goals and limitations.
- Able to direct and oversee several projects and ventures at different stages in their life cycles. Staff projects to ensure teams are composed of individuals with appropriate skills and expertise. Ensures that broker and organizational needs are met consistently. Requires ability to manage various stakeholder interests, and must demonstrate skills in facilitation, problem solving, decision making, persuasion, and team-orientation.
- Manages and develops staff. Coaches and develops staff to build on their strengths and develop areas of expertise and competency. Fosters a positive and can-do work environment, emphasizing respect for individuals, high standards of quality, innovation, and teamwork. Establishes effective working relationships with peers and others both internal and external to KP. Produces or oversees development of written materials for senior executives and other key clients. Plans and facilitates meetings. Makes formal presentations to various senior level audiences.
Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration or equivalent experience required.
- 5+ years experience in marketing, business development, or sales of insurance products in health care industry.
- Accident and Health Agent license required or ability to obtain one within 120 days of hire date.
- Thorough understanding of sales techniques and processes.
- Proven track record of growing revenue and membership and successfully, marketing, selling and building and managing broker relationships.
- Excellent written and oral communication, negotiations and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's degree.
- Detailed knowledge of new Health Care Reform.
- Detailed knowledge of the CA Health Insurance Exchange.
- Experience working with Employee Benefits Consultants and Brokers.
