DBAs are distinguished from DB Modelers by their extensive knowledge, experience, and complex technical skills. Under general direction, administers, manages, designs, documents, and evaluates a variety of database management systems, performs complex technical, analytical and professional services involving program/member services, evaluation, data integration or transformation, database-driver West sites, office operations support and problem resolution. Provides expert advice in the use and administration of databases; responsible for defining, implementing, protecting, and maintaining complex databases. Performs related duties as assigned.

Essential Functions:
- Manages components of large complex projects and overseas small to medium projects using budgeting and financial tracking controls.
- Leads the development of data definitions and meta data structures for information repository and the performance of model management activities in accordance with organizational goals and industry direction.
- In addition to the tasks performed by the senior level DBA, performs and leads physical database design for large, complex projects.
- Ensures integration of physical database models across projects.
- Ensures that project information architecture conforms to corporate information architecture or recommends appropriate changes to corporate information architecture.
- Designed complex physical databases across multiple platforms, technologies, and computing environments.
- Monitors the performance of database systems and makes tuning changes.
- Oversees ongoing system capacity planning, forecasting, and tuning.
- Identifies alternate monitoring tools or approaches or the need for monitoring tools.
- Performs research, prepares technical studies and makes recommendations.
- Prepares business requirements reports, feasibility studies, and cost justification statements.
- Articulates information architecture to clients.
- Researches and evaluates alternative solutions and recommends the most efficient and cost effective systems solutions.
- Identifies, researches, recommends, and develops, if necessary, new methodologies for supporting information management as it relates to data management.
- Works closely with technical and client management to ensure implementation of database management and support tools for complex business application development requirements and processes in accordance with latest enterprise direction (e.g. diverse development platforms, technological environments, software, hardware, and tools.)
- Assists Consultants / Specialist with clients and development areas in the design and implementation of large, complex database solutions.
- Provides training and professional development n new technologies and applications to staff.
- Assures integration with other databases and applications.
- Designed and leads the development, testing, and implementation of complex extract data transformation systems.
- Performa's tasks, and provides guidance to Seniors for second level diagnoses and resolution of database problems with divisional or national impact.
- Develop database security framework/processes to meet business and compliance needs.
- Designs, develops, Configures, tests, and integrates database infrastructure system components to produce product roadmaps, system standards and product builds of high complexity and process maturity spanning multiple platforms, technologies, and computing environments.
Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field and/or a minimum of 4 years of equivalent work experience
- A minimum of 8 years of Database Administration (DBA) experience.
- A minimum of 10 years of job related experience in Information Technology or equivalency.
- Thorough knowledge of business functions / business related policies.
- Complete understanding and application of business related principles, concepts, practices, and standards. Full knowledge of industry practices.
- Broad application of business function / business related principles, theories, and concepts in applicable discipline, plus working knowledge of other related fields.
- Considered very knowledgeable in field within KP.
