A medical Assistant provides support for healthcare teams providers during facility encounters within a team environment. They manage patient traffic flow and perform follow-up care per provider instructions. A Medical Assistant also assists with patient education.
Essential Functions:
- Completes medical records and specialist reports. Conducts conversations with patients and integrates relative data to the electronic record.
- Assists in managing patient flow, concerns and information
- Pre-assesses patient by reviewing history, collecting current information and appropriate vital signs. Documents in the medical record according to guidelines (e.g., hearing, vision, blood pressure)
- Prepares room and patient for practitioner encounter
- Schedules appointments for patients with lab, radiology, consultants and follow-up appointments as ordered by practitioner
- Resolves patient concerns promptly
- Participates in process of interviewing, selection, orientation and training of new team members
- Maintains department Quality Improvement standards
- Daily cleaning and restocking of exam rooms with Quality Improvement Logs check off
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- AAMA or AMT Certification required.
- American Heart Association BLS certification required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Customer service aptitude demonstrated through Job-Specific Assessment
