To provide spiritual support and counseling across the broad spectrum of race, cultural, and faith traditions for hospital patients, families, and staff. The chaplain is also required to be a member of the interdisciplinary patient care team, participate in patient care planning, and document all pertinent required information.
Essential Functions:
- Provides ministry to all patients and their families according to age-related needs; supports patients and their families in times of crisis, anxiety, and sorrow; provides for the religious needs of patients, families, and staff
- Establishes and nurtures outside networks of members of the religious community to ensure spiritual and emotional needs of patients are addressed by appropriate ecclesiastical persons.
- Organizes and promotes religious services such as memorial services and baptisms for patients and their families as needed
- Provides or oversees the patient's spiritual care and documents all visits, observations, and interventions in the patient's clinical record including contact with spiritual caregivers outside the healthcare team.
- Attends interdisciplinary team meetings and participate in formulating/evaluating patient care plans.
- Development of personalized patient care plans.
- Daily interaction with staff and interdisciplinary team members.
- On-call 24-hours, 7-days per week (pages consultation and patient visits)
- Attends in-services
- Conducts in-services for staff in regard to providing spiritual support.
Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- Minimum ofone (1) year of pastoral care experience in a hospital setting required
- Certified Chaplain from a recognized chaplain's organization with five (5) years of chaplain experience, or Certified Chaplain with completion of two quarters of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE), or Ordained Clergy or person holding a certificate or degree in theology or pastoral counseling (BD, MDiv or equivalent theological degree from an accredited institution)
- Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Healthcare Chaplains Ministry Association (HCMA) training of Clinical Pastoral Education (curriculum of 1600 hours/4 units) or its equivalent preferred.
- Bilingual preferred (language as determined by community demographics and language preference)
Notes:
- On-Call position for vacation relief/regional meeting coverage for full time pastor.
- Approx two weeks per quarter.
- Will be covering both Riverside Medical Center and Moreno Valley Community Hospital.
External hires must pass a background check/drug screen.
