This position will be responsible for evaluating the performance of existing Health Plan products and conceiving and leading the deployment of new products, and performance improvements, consistent with our overall organizational strategies. Product Managers will be the product expert in the organization, representing the product strategy and administration within the region and the national organization.
Essential Functions:
- In conjunction with senior leaders, establish performance goals for products. Identifies metrics for ongoing monitoring and assess products' actual performance. Summarize and communicate product performance to senior leaders.
- Assess root cause of performance aberrations and recommend interventions to meet performance goals. Ensure development of financial projection model that evaluates the revenue and cost implication of proposed changes.
- Understand key market trends, anticipate and identify changes needed to keep our product offering competitive and ensure that we implement new product designs that are consistent with the market.
- Accountable for delivering development and implementation of new products within established timelines and for managing project budgets.
- Facilitate process and product improvements that support product strategies and organizational goals including development of marketing materials, rates, regulatory review processes, training, communication, and other processes necessary to manage products on an ongoing basis. Develop training, support and outreach tools for stakeholders.
- Lead work teams of key constituents (functional managers, directors and senior managers) to implement product changes and to ensure alignment between product design and administration.
- Build strong cross-functional relationships to ensure that all stakeholders are engaged in the process and to manage change initiatives.
- Understand and communicate all aspects of product positioning strategy, processes and policies. Relied on as the subject matter expert for designated existing products. Provide thought leadership on product specific issues. Represent KPGA concerning existing products in collaborative work with other KP regions and National Program. Provide input to Strategic Marketing regarding the strategic plans for products and segments.
- Use project tracking discipline to ensure coordinated and timely achievement of product evaluations and change deployment initiatives. Manage project budgets.
- Responsible for building and maintaining equitable business relationships with vendor/partner. Negotiate vendor/partner financial and/or performance agreements and contracts (e.g., KPIC, MedImpact, etc.)

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience required.
- Minimum of 7-10 years or relevant health care industry experience and demonstrated strong performance in the following areas:
- Experience in either Sales, Marketing, or Consulting for health insurance services
- Knowledge of health care operations and terminology
- Knowledge of managed care products and features
- Data analysis
- Communication/interpersonal skills
- Influence
- Facilitation/team coordination
- Project management
- Organization/planning skills
- PC software, including presentation software, spreadsheet software, word processing software
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters degree preferred
- Degree in business, economics, marketing, strategy, health care administration or related field preferred
- Knowledge of Marketing and sales concepts and processes
- Strong market orientation
- Market research
- Knowledge of product development process frameworks
- MS Project
- Experience developing, implementing or managing managed care products
- Experience developing, implementing or managing self funded products
- Six Sigma performance improvement skills
