Provide acute care to individuals and their families, including medical diagnosis, treatment of new and chronic health problems as well as health promotion and disease prevention. To accomplish this goal the NP will work both autonomously and in collaboration with medical staff. Will serve as a patient advocate, resource to nursing staff and interdisciplinary consultant. Obtains health histories and performs physical examinations. Coordinates patient care by interacting with key ancillary departments such as pharmacy, imaging, laboratory, home care, therapies and dietary. Prescribes or recommends pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic therapies, including controlled medications that are warranted by patient's diagnosis or changing medical condition. This is an hourly, non- exempt role.
QUALIFICATIONS:
This is an hourly, non- exempt role.
The Nurse Practitioner is an advanced practice nurse who provides acute care to patients in accordance with Chapter 441 Nurse Practice Act of the Wisconsin Board of Nursing. Completion of a BSN is required. Completion of a Master's Degree in an accredited Acute Care, Family or Adult Nurse Practitioner Program is required. Cardiac ICU experience required. Current Wisconsin NP licensure. National Certification as a Nurse Practitioner. Current BLS and ACLS certification. Current clinical nursing practice in the specialty of cardiac care. Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills necessary. Ability to work with minimal guidance. Demonstrates advanced communication and collaboration skills with individuals and groups. Demonstrates a high degree of judgment and competence in providing specialized care. Ability to apply knowledge of principles and methods of research. Candidate must be flexible with scheduling as unit needs vary. Will most likely work a combination of 12 hr day and night shifts. Must be able to work all shifts, some weekends, holidays and vacation coverage.
