PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The primary responsibility of the position is to provide leadership in establishing and executing the processes necessary to ensure complete and accurate consolidation, reporting and analysis of the actual financial results of the International Division (YRI) of YUM! Brands, Inc. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the high standards established for the reporting of YUM! Brands, Inc. financial results to investors and other external parties, including earnings releases, SEC filings and other reports.

JOB SIZE:

This position reports to the Director, YRI Reporting and Group Controller and is part of the 21 member YRI Control team under the direction of the YRI Controller in Louisville, Kentucky. The YRI Control team is responsible for the coordination of accounting and reporting of 16 Field Control teams accumulating the results of restaurant operations in over 120 countries and territories (excluding the U.S., China and India). YRI generates revenues of over $3.2 billion and operating profit of $700 million annually through more than 14,000 Company and Franchise restaurants.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Ensure timely and accurate consolidation and reporting of YRI actual financial results (50%)

? Monthly consolidation process (financial results, currency translation, inter-co elimination, ?topside? adjs)

? Confirmation of monthly sales and operating profit with business units

? Monthly account reconciliations (investments, equity, cumulative translation adjustment)

? Monthly determination and analysis of foreign currency impact on income statement items

? Monthly reporting of consolidated YRI financial results to External Reporting team for YUM! consolidation

? Coordination with YRI Planning team on monthly Flash and Leadership Team reporting

? Coordination with Field Control teams, External Reporting and Tax to push-down ?topside? adjustments

? Investigation and resolution of accounting/reporting issues

? Maintenance of YRI E1/HFM org structure and chart of accounts (approval of all new account requests)

? Integrate significant transactions (acquisitions/refranchising) into consolidation and reporting processes

? SOX documentation requirements


2. Ensure high-quality analysis of quarterly YRI financial results (25%)

? Preparation/review of consolidated Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A), including all YRI markets

? Compilation of quarterly YRI Close Deck submitted to External Reporting, including preparation of key analysis

? Presentation of key balance sheet and income statement analysis in quarterly YRI Close Meeting

? Review of YRI sections of quarterly earnings release, SEC filings and related documents (speeches, Q&A)

? Review of all externally reported YRI financial information (Analyst decks, Treasury decks, etc.)


3. Ensure complete and timely submission of quarterly and annual U.S. Department of Commerce reports (10%)


4. Maintain Pure Gold Standard process to evaluate, track and report the performance of the Field Control Teams in the period and quarterly reporting of actual financial results to YRI Control (5%)


5. Assist with special projects as needed (10%)

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelors degree in Accounting required
  • CPA designation required
  • 7-10 years of public accounting, consolidation, or financial reporting experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • Leadership skills
  • Experience with international accounting and foreign currency issues a plus


OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven organization skills with ability to establish priorities and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously
  • High degree of Intellectual Curiosity and Analytical skills with ability to identify issues and propose solutions
  • Computer literacy and strong Excel skills; Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) and JD Edwards (E1) a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet established deadlines
  • Process / standards mindset
  • Team player willing to assist other team members during tight deadlines or crisis situations
