Description:
As a Landman you will be assigned to an asset team within a Business Unit and you''ll be exposed to and responsible for many phases of land work including deal negotiation, contract writing, due diligence and decision support for Land,
Commercial and Business Unit management. You will be exposed to, trained in and responsible for lease, contract and division order ownership analysis with supervision, computerized mapping, data entry/analysis projects in ConocoPhillips''
Land systems, and data integrity analysis support for both surface and mineral estates. In addition, you will receive diversified training through on-the-job assignments using technical skills you have acquired, as well as internal and
external courses. The work will develop you technically and professionally, and could involve personal interaction with both office and field employees. A mentor, usually a more senior employee within the Land department will be assigned to
you. You will also have a recent hire connection to help acclimate you to the corporate environment.
Responsibilities may include:
*
Acquiring, trading, and divesting undeveloped leaseholds to consolidate holdings in areas of interest.
*
Working with legal counsel to clear title for drilling and division order purposes.
*
Writing and negotiating contracts and the management of contractual matters associated with large ConocoPhillips asset base (both company-operated and operated by others.)
*
Preparing and submitting various state and federal filings, including annual plans of development, commercial well filings, unit expansion applications, location exceptions, commingling applications, etc., and company representation at
*
state hearings.
* Representing the company in dealing with partners, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), or state agencies.
Qualifications:

Basic/Required:
*
Legally authorized to work in the United States
* 5 years in-house land experience in the oil and gas industry
* 5 experience analyzing oil and gas leases and Exploration and Production contracts and systems familiarity
* 5 experience with various types of lease agreements and software packages used for Land functions (i.e., Tobin, business objects, Arcview,DSM.)
Preferred:
* Bachelor''s or Graduate degree (MBA, JD, etc.) with a focus on Energy Management or Energy Commerce
* Solves difficult problems with little or no supervision
* Translates innovative ideas into workable procedures
* A strong team member and focuses team effort
* Ability to express sound solutions and ideas to management with minimal preparation and readily anticipates problems and questions
* Direct experience negotiating experience and an understanding of contracts, project planning, project and acquisition economics, commercial evaluation and alternative business structures
