GENERAL SUMMARY
Manages the development and implementation of new products to meet customers’ needs and organizational goals. Leads cross-functional teams in the creation and feasibility screening of new product designs. Prepares and presents analyses and business cases proposing new products and assessing existing products. May work with Market Research to assess and address market conditions and environmental dynamics in relation to product development and market opportunities.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages product development activities from design through feasibility for assigned products. Leads cross functional teams ensuring successful product development, product training and implementation.
- Measures and assesses new products against established and approved objectives making recommendations on product continuation, modification or withdrawal.
- Coordinates and ensures the successful implementation of standardized project development and management disciplines, techniques, and tools.
- Participates in internal and external sales, advisory council, and professional meetings to gain insight into needs, concerns and actions of primary constituents.
- May work in conjunction with Market Research to gather and assess information on market demographics, buyer preferences, competitor products, and other market intelligence to identify new product ideas and services for consideration and to assess market potential of new products and services.
- May have responsibility for the Regulatory Affairs function.
- Recruits, develops, and motivates staff. Initiates and communicates a variety of personnel actions including employment, termination, performance reviews, salary reviews, and disciplinary actions.
- Performs other duties as required.
Qualifications:
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Previous (5-7 years) experience in business development, product development, product management or related consulting field. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent project management, written, verbal and presentation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated expertise with Internet applications, various software packages, database management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
