The R&D Manager, Customer Innovation is responsible for identifying and developing new product/solutions and growth opportunities in current site of care. He/she will be responsible for participating in extensive customer and marketplace research and innovation sessions that lead to opportunity identification, market sizing, and channel strategy. They will become experts on their sites of care with a relentless focus on key stakeholders including clinicians (physicians, referring physicians, nurses and other KOLs), Providers (hospital administration), and patients.
The R&D leader will have expertise in developing innovative concepts, performing key requirements tradeoff studies, protecting intellectual property, performing strategic technology assessments, and developing realizable solutions for testing. They will conduct technology readiness assessments, project risk management plans and understand the regulatory environment for development. They will also manage the scope, schedule, resources, budget and project risks.
They should possess: Technical knowledge, Intellectual curiosity, Learning agility, Commercial interest, Demonstrated success across multiple categories/industries and experience in innovation and creating new businesses/products/services/models.
Qualifications
A BS/BA degree in Science, Engineering, industrial design or a related field is required. MBA is preferred. A minimum of 8 years of related R&D experience is required. Healthcare industry experience required (Consumer, Pharmaceutical and/or Medical Device and Diagnostics). Diagnostics industry experience preferred. Experience in product development from concept through launch preferred. Experience in structured approaches to front end innovation (product roadmaps, triz, etc.) preferred. Must be able to travel 35% domestically and internationally.
