This position is the primary BI architect for Kaiser Permanente's Corporate Human Resources. KP just embarked on a large multi-year, multi-million dollar project to upgrade all business processes and tools used to support its analytic and reporting capabilities. The person who fills this job will take a holistic view of the entire workforce information at KP and focus on the architecture to produce metrics and analytics aligned to support KP's strategy. Strong business acumen and the ability to effectively liaison between business and information technology resources is a must. A solid understanding of aggregate modeling techniques with prior experience in using industry standard analytics tools to produce dashboards and scorecards is desirable. Domain knowledge of HR applications is preferred.
Essential duties:
- Provide Architecture Leadership for HR Analytics and Metrics Definition
- Recommends strategies for the development of Corporate HR Metrics and Analytics ensuring proper alignment with organizational goals.
- Manifests business concepts into an enterprise and subject-oriented logical design and data flow diagrams, enforcing standard metric definitions and consistent business rules.
- Takes a lead role in facilitating design meetings with key Stakeholders, Business users, Analysts, Technical Architects and Developers.
- Represents Kaiser in industry standards forums and assures incorporation of industry best practices across HR metrics and analytics. Keeps abreast of the technology and HR domain trends.
- Researches and evaluates alternative solutions and recommends the most efficient, cost-effective and scalable solution for all HR subject area analytics at the enterprise level.
- Works with BI project teams consisting of ETL, OLAP and UI application developers to deliver structured subject-area specific domains and data marts
Functional and Technical Skills
- Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skills and must be comfortable communicating with all levels in the organization from senior leadership to business analysts
- Ability to lead design and project meetings with business and technical peers
- Develop working relationships with the Business Analysts, other Data Modelers and Solution Architects to ensure successful delivery of BI solutions
- Experience in designing and implementing enterprise level BI solutions (Cognos, Business Objects, OBIEE)
- Working knowledge in source system analysis and data quality analysis
- Knowledge of data warehouse architecture, ETL processes, and data modeling techniques
- Ability to scope large efforts, conduct meetings and write techno-functional documents
- Experience with Enterprise application integration and back-end data connectivity applications
- Knowledge of ERP systems like PeopleSoft, SAP, Oracle Applications

- Ten (10) + years of related experience in design, testing, implementation, control and maintenance of organization's logical and relational databases across platforms and computing environment.
- Bachelor's degree in related field ORfour (4) years of directly related equivalent experience.
- Advanced knowledge (broad expertise or unique knowledge) of policies, practices and systems.
- Develops advanced concepts, techniques, and standards.
- Develops new applications based on professional principles and theories.
- Viewed as functional expert in field within KP.
